ย ๐ย Hi, hermosos amigos! I hope you’re having a wonderful day surrounded by the best readings! โค๏ธ Today, I decided to bring you an update or something like a wrap-up of my 5-star book predictions, not only of the lists I’ve made for this year, but we’ll also review those predictions from last year to see how I’ve done.ย ๐ I was going through some old posts these days, thinking about what post to do and I realized that I had never brought you a complete update as such of all the 5-star prediction lists I’ve done over the years, and you know I LOVE doing those types of posts, as I think they’re a lot of fun, so I thought it was time to have all those books organized in one post to also review if I’ve been right about some of these readings with my predictions.ย ๐ค
I think it will be fun to chat a little bit about each of these books, honestly, I was surprised to see that I’ve read most of them already, almost without realizing it, but I love it because this is a great opportunity to bring you this postย ๐ซ, share a little bit with you and obviously chat about how right I was about each book and which ones I’ve ended up being disappointed with. I’d also love it if you could share your 5-star predictions with me, and I’d love to know how you’ve been doing with that!ย ๐๐ปย
Obviously, I plan to create another one of these lists with new books soon, as I love doing it, it’s a great challenge that without even knowing it keeps you pretty motivated to read, so not only I’ll continue to do it, but I highly recommend it if you haven’t tried it yet.ย ๐ฅฐ It’s an interesting way to see how much you really know about yourself, what things you like to read or which ones are really for you and which ones aren’t.
Personally, I think it’s a lot of fun, soโฆ I hope this will be a relaxed post, just to review a few of my past readings and have a post solely dedicated to my 5-star predictions. I hope you like it a lot, that you decide to share all your opinions with me and without further ado, LET’S GET STARTED!ย ๐ย
โผ๏ธย PS: Any rating of 4.5-star will be taken as a win for me and as a completed goal, since by my standards a 4.5-star rating is too close to perfection, I’m just a bit picky sometimes. I’ll still take them as 5-star in this post.
ย ๐ย All the links you need will be below, so you can check out my full reviews or add the book to your bookshelves.
ย ๐ย Come Tumbling Down (Wayward Children #5) by Seanan McGuire | Even though I can’t count this one as an accurate prediction, I can say with certainty that I enjoyed it very much. The whole Wayward Children series is wonderful, every book is a new, exciting and whimsical adventure that is a real pleasure to read, so first, I need to highly recommend this series. Regarding my thoughts on this book, everything is more clear in my review, but, in summary, I liked it a lot because I love the characters that we follow as much as the world, but for me this time it’s the plot that fell a little short of what I expected and I wasn’t convinced by the ending. Still, as you can see from my rating it’s a great book in the series and I really liked it. In an Absent Dream may be my favorite so far. 4โญ๏ธ
ย ๐ย The 7ยฝ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton | This is another book that, like the previous one, has earned its yellow symbol, which in Sofi’s language, means that I really liked the book but it didn’t get to be 5-star as I expected it to be. This book is a bomb of information, it’s really a lot to process, it’s not easy to read, it has many characters and very heavy prose, but I still loved it! I think it’s one of the most unique books in plot ideas I’ve ever read, the ending blew me away I couldn’t see that twist coming at all, and of course, it’s a pleasure to read a story with a repetitive plot in itself because that’s what it’s about, but at the same time, absolutely gripping, dark and full of questions and secrets to reveal. Very interesting, if you like adult kind of mystery and highly atmospheric books, you’ll love this one. 4โญ๏ธ
โ ย Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe #2) by Neal Shusterman | As mentioned before I’ll be taking this kind of rating as a super achievement in this post, so this is my first book where I got my prediction right! Honestly, this whole series is a masterpiece, one of the best dystopian worlds, if not THE BEST one I’ve ever read. I can’t mention specific things about the sequel as such, but I can say the story, in general, is extremely unique and gripping, at this point in the story I was already more than in love and super engaged with the characters and their stories, so clearly I couldn’t stop reading and I must say that although the author made me suffer a lot he also gave me many epic moments in this series and will always have a special place in my heart. Haven’t you read it yet? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR! 4.5โญ๏ธ
โ ย Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw | I added this book to my predictions list because I read and loved The Wicked Deep, which you probably already know because I haven’t shut up about it since I read it lol, and even though my expectations were really high, I wasn’t disappointed. Besides the fact that I loved the plot and especially how atmospheric this book is, I think there’s something about the author’s style that resonates deeply with me, I really love how she writes and I know I’ll read all of her work, I just love what she does. This particular book seems like that type of mystery that’s quite common, but it has an outcome that, in my opinion, makes it stand out from the rest and leaves you thinking, which I love. Also, the story is complemented by short stories from a magic book that is inside this book, and that touch seems to me to be a highlight as well. 4.5โญ๏ธ
โ ย Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power | This book is MY BOOK, I really know it’s not for everyone, but ever since I read the synopsis I had this feeling that I would love it, and I wasn’t wrong. I read Wilder Girls by the author, and although I didn’t like the ending at all, I completely loved her storytelling style and that touch of fantasy horror that I think is her trademark, so I knew I had to read more by her, and this book worked %100 for me. This story has a creepy vibe that she knows how to keep very well until the end, it has very deep characters with very complicated personalities, explores family relationships at their most toxic side and also shows us a new path into mystery, where everything gets very weird in the best possible way. Unexpected twists all around and a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I love this book, there’s nothing more to say. 5โญ๏ธย
โย The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He | I uploaded my review of this book very recently and if you’ve seen it, you already know that this book definitely didn’t work for me, which still hurts because it was obviously on my list, so I expected to love it. It follows sisters trying to regain a certain bond and then I thought I would love it, but the way it’s executed didn’t make it easy for me, plus it has a lot of heavy content in the tech and sci-fi part which isn’t my jam, plus I didn’t like any of the characters and the plot wasn’t too interesting to follow. One of my biggest disappointments of this year for me, without a doubt, and one of the most unpopular opinions I’ve had because I know many of you love it, so well, sometimes it can happen. 1.5โญ๏ธย
ย ๐ย The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin | This book gave me a lot of cutie vibes even when the plot is super serious, I don’t know why, I think it’s because I love the romance and that never happens to me, but this time the characters had so much chemistry that it transcended the pages. This book is one of those books that gives pleasure to read simply because of how aesthetically beautiful it is, it also has a plot that is very entertaining, but above all, the most important thing is that it touches on serious issues such as climate change, but also portrays in an almost brilliant way, I would say, the feelings of the main character, it makes you feel very committed to what’s happening, and that speaks of the great writing style of the author. I’m excited to read more from her in the future. 4โญ๏ธ
โย Watch Over Me by Nina LaCour | I absolutely loved We Are Okay in fact it’s one of my favorite books of all time, so obviously I was dying to read more from the author and this book wasn’t bad, obviously, it didn’t get 5-star or even close to it, so it earns its mark, still, it’s a book with very important topics and heavy on sentiment. It touches on the theme of grief and family, what it represents to one and how important it is to create bonds to heal old wounds. It’s certainly a super deep book, with a lot of internal monologues and situations that reflect things that happened in the past, for that reason I feel that the plot itself doesn’t move much, not much happens, it follows a single plotline very focused on the emotional. A great book, that I know will help and will be loved by thousands of readers, but for me, it was a little short, I expected much more development in general. 3โญ๏ธ
ย ๐ย The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune | This book is adorable!!! I really loved it, I think the beginning is a little slow and dense at times, but once the story really gets going and the characters are introduced it’s truly magical. I love above all the message of love, support, acceptance, diversity, and family that this book gives, it leaves you with a warm feeling at the end that you carry deep inside your heart. The characters are very pure and incredible, I love this kind of story when the characters find their home where the other one is, you know? and it’s a book that represents a lot “the people we choose in our lives to call family”, and also the main character has an incredible growth that’s very pleasant to read. Great work, another author I want to read again very soon. 4โญ๏ธ
๐ Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender | There are so many positive things to say about this book, a book that represents so many trans people in the world who just want to live who they are proudly and with all the rights and respect they deserve, this message is wonderful and is shown with an incredible level to highlight without a doubt, on the other hand, we also follow a very young character who’s discovering himself, and that also comes with a much more powerful combo. I loved this book, I learned a lot reading it which I deeply appreciate. Still, I must say as I mentioned in my review, that Felix as a character wasn’t one of my favorites, of course, I understand absolutely the story and what he wants to tell, but at times he seems kind of selfish and self-centered, so at times it was a challenge to keep reading it, still for the great message, deserves a lot of recognition and love. 4โญ๏ธ
โ The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab | OMG, this book is a complete masterpiece! I expected to love it, of course, otherwise, it wouldn’t be on this list, but I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. It’s an incredible journey, guys, if you haven’t read it yet, I invite you to do so, I know you won’t regret it. It’s a story that takes you through all the possible emotional states by the hand of an absolutely touching and inspiring story as heartbreaking. Also, the characters are super realistic and incredibly created, they’ll make you feel even more inside the story, and I know you won’t be able to stop reading because that’s exactly what happened to me. I have no words to describe this book, I feel that it’s much more what you feel than what you can express with words, I think that having read almost all the works of the author now, this is undoubtedly the best! 5โญ๏ธ

And those were all my 5-star predictions books and how I feel about them! I think overall, I did a good job picking these books, I know only two of them are full 5 stars, but most of them are 4 stars or more, so in perspective, super happy with how it turned out!ย ๐๐ป & obviously, super excited to read those four books I still have to! โค๏ธ

I’m so glad you like the story as well, it’s wonderful โค๏ธ and I hope you end up enjoying the last book, in my opinion I loved the first two more, but still the last one is great too โบ๏ธ. I love when a series doesn’t fail to surprise me until the end and this one definitely did that ๐

I haven’t read any of these books but some of these are on my list that I hope to buy. I don’t think I do much prediction thing. I just know if I will like the book or not but I can never say if it would be 5 star or not and honestly I like to go in half blind with average to low expectation. Amazing post!

I hope you love those you’re going to read!!! โค๏ธ I completely understand, I think going in with no expectations to a read is the best way to go into it, I think sometimes I personally tend to get too excited and then get disappointed ๐ , so I should take your advice and go in a little blind, this year I’ve had pleasant surprises of books I wasn’t expecting much from, so that’s great! ๐๐๐ป

Just love the Scythe trilogy here, I can never recommend it enough! โค๏ธ I want to read more from the author too! Omg Sofi, this was an amazing post!! You definitely made me inspired to go back to my 5-star prediction list I made last year and read all the books in it to see if I got it right.
There are some amazing books here and I loved how you inspired me to read some of them and take some others out of my TBR. The Ones We’re Meant to Find definitely goes out of my list as lots of tech and sci-fi details in a story is not my cup of tea. And you made me very intrigued in The Nature of Witches!
I cannot agree more with Addie LaRue. It wasn’t in my 5-star predictions either but it end up becoming my all-time favorite book. Congratulations for reading almost all the books on your predictions list, that’s definitely a huge achievement!!

I’m so sorry I can’t recommend The Ones We’re Meant to Find, I really thought I would love it, but OMG, it was nothing for me, I know other bookish friends have loved it and that’s great, but as you say, it’s very tech heavy and that’s a “nope” for me & The Nature of Witches is so amtoferic and the romance is *cheff kiss*, I feel like you’ll like it.๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
OMG, Addie LaRue SUPREMACY!!! โจ I love that everyone is enjoying it ๐ & giving it the love and recognition it 100% deserves, The author sure went to another level of talent with this book.
