🌙 Hi, guys! I hope you’re having a wonderful day full of good readings. Super excited cause this weekly series will be focused on helping me clean my Goodreads shelves and also prioritize some readings and organize myself in general. I LOVE this idea, I know that many of you already know it and do it as well, the creator is the incredible: Destiny | Howling Libraries | 💫 whom I love as a human being and I respect a lot as a book blogger ❤️, so it’s really a pleasure to start with this new project especially because it’s created by someone who I admire a lot and that makes me very happy, I also really need help to organize my books, So here we go! 👏🏻
I wanted to give it my own twist to make it more fun and also fit my needs or what I hope to do with my books and my readings. So I’ve decided that as well as Destiny, I’ll be opening voting every week so that you can participate in the whole process and help me decide which books to prioritize, for this: I’ll ask you to vote for one of the books in the “LOWS” section and not only I’ll be adding it to my priority list, but I’ll also be creating my own TBR Jar with each of your choices!. So, every week the book you choose from my selection will be added to my TBR Jar and then at the end of the month, I’ll choose one of them to read and finally give a real chance to it. I’ll not be removing all my “LOWS”, only some if necessary, maybe one per week or sometimes none, I’ll be super honest about them and I hope you can help me make a decision anything can happen in these posts! LOL 🥰
I hope you like this idea, I think it will be fun, I’ll be cleaning my Goodreads shelves a bit, which is great, but you can also participate in the process and so will have a super interactive experience, so we can all have a little fun ❤️. I hope you enjoy it, thanks for the support always, from the bottom of my heart & LET’S START! 🌙
Rules:
- Link back to the original post at Howling Libraries
- Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
- Find 5-10 (or more, if you feel ambitious!) titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”)
- ALTERNATIVE OPTION: Find 5+ titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
- Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
- Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
- List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)
Thank you SO much if you voted on the previous week post and thanks to you as well that have let me know your thoughts, it was really helpful to make my decisions ❤️
✔️ I KEEP ON MY TBR | Going Off Script by Jen Wilde, The Third Twin by C.J. Omololu, Ignite the Stars (Ignite the Stars #1) by Maura Milan, Midnight at the Electric by Jodi Lynn Anderson & When the Light Went Out by Bridget Morrissey
❌ LEAVES MY TBR | Mine by Courtney Cole, The Furies by Katie Lowe & I Wanna Be Where You Are by Kristina Forest
⚱️ TBR JAR | Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty & Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
🌙 Pestilence (The Four Horsemen #1) by Laura Thalassa | This is a NA Fantasy Romance. This story is about four horsemen, Pestilence, War, Famine & Death, who came to earth with the power to destroy everything. When Pestilence arrives at the town of a girl named Sara, she’s ready to confront the horsemen to save her family, but upon shooting him, she realizes that this beast cannot die. Now Pestilence takes her as a prisoner determined to make her suffer, but the more time passes, the feelings begin to be confused about each other and now in order to save the world, Sara may have to sacrifice her own heart.
I have no idea how this book got to my TBR, to be honest. It’s not the type of book that I usually read, but perhaps I’ve seen it in some video of booktube and I was interested at that time. I know there are people who love this type of passionate and erotic romance, but maybe it’s not for me, so I’ll let it go. Still, I want to know if you have heard of it and what do you think? sounds taboo, so I’m interested to know your opinion.
🌙 What Should Be Wild by Julia Fine | This is an Adult Magical-Realism Fantasy book. In this darkly funny, striking debut, a highly unusual young woman must venture into the woods at the edge of her home to remove a curse that has plagued the women in her family for millennia — an utterly original novel with all the mesmerizing power of The Tiger’s Wife, The Snow Child, and Swamplandia!
This book sounds SO GOOD!! I’m completely on board with the synopsis, it’s much longer, but I think that this little bit sums up everything very well. I love that it’s about a curse and also take place in a forest, it just sounds like the perfect story for me, so I’m excited to check it out to tell you my thoughts! Have you heard about it? Have you read it? Let me know.
🌙 Confessions by Kanae Minato | This is an Adult Mystery-Thriller book. Narrated in alternating voices, with twists you’ll never see coming, Confessions explores the limits of punishment, despair, and tragic love, culminating in a harrowing confrontation between teacher and student that will place the occupants of an entire school in danger. You’ll never look at a classroom the same way again.
OMG, this book is another one that sounds too good to miss. I can see it’s a twisted story about revenge and resentment, but I’ve also heard that it has unexpected twists and shocking revelations, so I definitely want to give it a chance. I like that even though it’s not classified as horror, it sounds pretty creepy, so I’m interested in finding out what’s going on at this school!
🌙 Come Find Me by Megan Miranda | This is a YA Mistery-Thriller book, with some sparks of Sci-Fi. Drawn together by strange radio signals – and their family tragedies – Kennedy and Nolan search for the origin of the mysterious frequency. But the more they uncover, the more they believe that everything’s connected – even their pasts – as it appears the signal is meant for them alone, sharing a message that only they can understand. Is something coming for them? Or is the frequency warning them about something that’s already here?
This one sounds pretty puzzling, I like how it sounds because it’s a mystery, but it has some paranormal aspects or that what I think for everything I’ve read. Even so, I confess that I’m here for the author, I’ve read Fragments of the Lost by her and I loved it, so I’m on board to try more of her stories that always have a very unique aspect to explore. I don’t know, what do you think about this one? I would like to know!
🌙 My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing | This is an Adult Mystery-Thriller book. The blurb itself doesn’t give much information so what I understand is that this book follows an apparently perfect consolidated marriage that commits murders.
I’ve heard very good things about it, so of course, I’m very curious to read it. I’ve also heard that the ending is somewhat disappointing for some people, but I’m willing to discover it for myself, it has incredible reviews so I don’t want to miss it. Have you read it?
🌙 Something Like Gravity by Amber Smith | This is a YA Contemporary Romance (featuring a transgender character). The path forward isn’t easy. Chris has come out as transgender, but he’s still processing a frightening assault I’ve survived the year before. Maia is grieving the loss of her older sister and trying to find her place in the world without her. Falling in love was the last thing on either of their minds.
This book sounds so heartbreaking but so important and sweet at the same time, I don’t usually read something that says it’s similar to Eleanor & Park because I don’t like that book at all, but I’m willing to give this one a chance because of its diversity and its story. I think it can leave me something after reading it, you know?
🌙 The Best Lies by Sarah Lyu | This is a YA Mystery-Thriller book. Told in alternating timelines, Thelma and Louise meets Gone Girl in this twisted psychological thriller about the dark side of obsessive friendship. This book follows a girl trying to discover what’s behind the tragedy that led her best friend to kill her boyfriend, was it in self-defense, or is there something darker and unimaginable behind?
This sounds great too, it seems like today is the day when I want to keep everything. But I’m not 100% sure, I would like to hear more opinions to make a decision. The plot sounds good, but will it really be worth it? I’ve read average reviews, so I’ll wait and think about it. PS: I love the cover.
🌙 The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides | This is an Adult Mystery Thriller book. This book is about Alicia Berenson who has an apparently perfect life, married to a renowned fashion photographer and lives in a beautiful house in a privileged place in London, but one day her husband arrives at home and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and never speaks a single word again. Now Theo Faber, a criminal psychotherapist, is determined to make her speak to know the truth behind the crime.
I’ve heard very good things about this book, but I’ve also heard that it is quite boring, so that has stopped me from picking it up. I would love to know what you think about it, is it worth it? I would like to know more opinions to be sure about my decision.
🌙 The Rattled Bones by S.M. Parker | This is a YA Mystery Fantasy/Paranormal book. Unearthing years of buried secrets, Rilla Brae is haunted by ghostly visions tied to the tainted history of a mysterious island in this haunting novel from the author of The Girl Who Fell.
There are a lot of ghosts, apparitions, and an island in this book, so that’s all I need to know, lol. It sounds great, and it has amazing reviews, I’m very surprised not to have heard that much about it, I added it once I saw Trina (Between Chapters) talking about it and it sounded quite promising so here it is, and I’m still interested, for the promise in itself. But it also scares me that it will be slow or very dense, so I’ll think about it, but perhaps I’ll give the first chapter a chance to see how I feel about it. Have you read it? Have you heard about it?
🌙Other Words for Smoke by Sarah Maria Griffin | This is a YA Fantasy/Horror book. The house at the end of the lane burned down, and Rita Frost and her teenage ward, Bevan, were never seen again. The townspeople never learned what happened. Only Mae and her brother Rossa know the truth; they spent two summers with Rita and Bevan, two of the strangest summers of their lives … Because nothing in that house was as it seemed: a cat who was more than a cat, and a dark power called Sweet James that lurked behind the wallpaper, enthralling Bevan with whispers of neon magic and escape. And in the summer heat, Mae became equally as enthralled with Bevan. Desperately in the grips of first love, she’d give the other girl anything. A dangerous offer when all that Sweet James desired was a taste of new flesh …
I just decided to put all the blurb here because I’m not sure if I understand what it is about, lol, so I’ll leave it up to you, I’m interested in the genre, I like it to be fantasy and horror, they’re things that I think will work very well, but it confuses me at the same time because the cover seems super happy, so I don’t know! I want to read this? It sounds intriguing, but also somewhat messy and uncertain. What do you think?
🌙 Anger Is a Gift by Mark Oshiro | When tensions hit a fever pitch and tragedy strikes, Moss must face a difficult choice: give in to fear and hate or realize that anger can actually be a gift. ( YA – Contemporary )
🌙 These Feathered Flames (These Feathered Flames #1) by Alexandra Overy | Two sisters. Separated by duty. One certain truth: magic always comes with a price. In the land of Tóurin, when twin heirs are born, one is raised to rule and the other becomes the next Firebird, a creature to ensure magic remains balanced. ( YA – Fantasy – Retelling )
🌙 By the Book by Amanda Sellet | As her best intentions go up in flames, Mary discovers life doesn’t follow the same rules as fiction. If she wants a happy ending IRL, she’ll have to write it herself. ( YA – Romance – Contemporary )
🌙 White Fox by Sara Faring | A tale of two sist ers against a backdrop of Night Film meets Black Mirror, this atmospheric novel will keep you guessing until the very end. ( YA – SciFi – Thriller )
🌙The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar | When Dimple Met Rishi meets Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda in this rom com about two teen girls with rival henna businesses. ( YA – Contemporary – Romance – LGBT+ Characters )

Aaaah i’m so happy you’re keeping Going off Script on your TBR, I love love love this book very much ❤ I have read a snippet of Other Words for Smoke and…. the writing was a bit strange, some part of it was told in the second person and it confused me, because I wasn't used to it ahah. Still, the story sounded kind of strange and I was curious to see what would happen. I just couldn't really connect with the way the story was told. I'm rambling and have no idea if that helps, but I thought I'd share my thoughts 🙈

I heard some great things about My Lovely Wife, but I’m not quite sure if I will pick it up.
Megan Miranda’s thrillers also tend to be very good, so Come Find Me is also on my list of the books to get to eventually. 😀

Omg how have I never heard of These Feathered Flames, it sounds amazing!! Plus it has an intriguing title and stunning cover 😍
I definitely want to read My Lovely Wife sometime so I guess out I’d recommend keeping that out of the lows. Although it is kind of a tough choice as I personally want to read quite a few of them. I’ve heard fantastic things about The Silent Patient (I’m hoping to get it out of the library when they reopen) and The Best Lies sounds pretty twisty and disturbing too.
