I’m Back! Let’s Catch Up: Blog/Life Plans & Readings 👏🏻

ðŸ‘ðŸ» Hi, my beautiful bookish family! ❤️ How have you been? I hope you’re doing great, from here I send you all my love and good energies for these moments ðŸŒŸ, especially to all the innocent people who are being affected by the current war, my heart and my thoughts are with all of you, I really hope everything gets better soon, the world has already gone through too much already.  ðŸ™ðŸ»
So guys… I’M BACK! I’m so happy and excited to resume my blog and bring back fun content, plus most of all I’ve missed you guys so much, the interactions I have with you were always a fun part of my days, plus I’ve missed all your beautiful blogs, which I’ll be checking out these days. ðŸ˜Š

This post is mostly to reconnect and catch up, I want to tell you a little bit about my life, my plans in general, but obviously, I also want to put myself in order and share with you my ideas for the blog, the content I’ll be doing and also of course, my plans as a reader, plus some books I’ve read these months that I want to tell you about. 🥰

So, if this is the first time you’re here, welcome! 🎉 I love having you and I hope you enjoy this new stage with me, and if you’ve been there since the beginning THANK YOU SO MUCH for that, from the bottom of my heart for the love, and support of all these wonderful years. 🥺
Now yes, without further ado, let’s get started! (I’m trying not to talk too much, this is new lol) 👏🏻

So, life has been bringing me new surprises and new directions, for which I feel very grateful and excited and you know that in general, I like when something affects my life in a certain drastic way to talk about it with you a little bit. The thing is that I’ll be moving to another country maybe in November, I don’t want to put any date yet, but for those dates we’re planning with my boyfriend to move to Germany, originally, it was going to be in Sweden, but there were some situations that made us change the destination, but everything is fine and if things continue on the right track we’ll be in that part of the world by the end of the year. This is a huge opportunity for both of us to grow in all areas of life, so I’m really looking forward to it. But, of course, all this comes with changes and new adaptations, I know I’ll miss my family a lot, but I also know that it’s a change that will bring good things and will allow me to be in a better economic position to help my family and that’s of course super exciting. I also love to see new places, so I’m looking forward at some point to seeing more of Europe in general.

Of course, the fact that I’ll be moving to a new country means that I’ll be adapting to a new routine and new life in general, so in the beginning, at least for the first few years, I don’t know if it’s going to be viable or possible for me to continue with my blog. I’m super realistic about this even if it hurts a little, I know that things will get better and I also know that in time I would love to resume it, it’s never a possibility for me to close my blog permanently, far from it, since my idea of returning to blogging is always in me. I love doing this, you know that, so even if the break is long, I’ll come back at some point maybe in my new home and it will be nice to share my journey with you.
This is why the next few months will be very important for me, I want to be part of this beautiful community as much as I can, this means I’ll be super present, catching up with your blogs, being on social media, and posting of course, which we’ll talk about later. So here’s the situation, and I’m really in the present moment, I’ve decided to enjoy every day, every part of my blog, every situation of sharing with you, of expressing my ideas, about sharing what we read, I’m really focused on enjoying and having a great time these months on the blog. So I hope you’ll be there super present too, don’t forget I love to chat with you so comment and express yourself!

I don’t really have a structure as such planned as far as the topics of each post, but I’ll be telling you more or less what my plan is so far, and how everything will be going as far as posting and content in general.
I know I want to continue doing REVIEWS, although I’ll be making them a little shorter, this is because I want to have more time to maybe dedicate to other posts as well, and I think that creating a system a little more “to the point” about my thoughts on each book, could be more dynamic and entertaining as well as give me a little more time to invest in other posts as well. Of course, this doesn’t mean that I won’t post reviews or don’t care about them, I still want them to be of quality, but more than anything else we’ll talk very punctually about what I think, focusing perhaps on points like the writing, the plot, the characters, the atmosphere and other things that I think would be of interest.
On the other hand, I want to continue doing posts of WRAP UPs and TBRs, but this time I want to do them separately as I originally did, I think this way it will look nicer and more orderly, and I like that.
I’ll continue with my favorite posts to do which are the TOPs or some LISTs, I love to experiment with that and create from RECOMMENDATIONS to CHALLENGES, it’s always fun and gives me a lot of freedom to share ideas with you.
I also feel like doing DISCUSSIONS from time to time, but it will be something I’ll do only if I feel really inspired to do it, I don’t want it to be something I have to do, but just something that comes naturally, you know?
I’ll 100% keep doing my BOOK BLOGGERS APPRECIATION posts, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE doing them, and I also want to expand my book blog list a bit, so I’ll be posting some of that on Twitter soon.

Since we’ll be catching up during this month, I still want to share some posts that I didn’t get to show you before I took my break, things like TOPS of FAVORITES and LEAST FAVORITES of 2021 and that sort of thing, because even though it’s been a few months, I think it would be fun to do that. Also some ANTICIPATED BOOKS from this year and those kinds of posts, so I hope you enjoy them!

I haven’t really read much these past few months, because of course, I’ve had a lot of work to do and that’s partly why I took my break, so in a way and unintentionally it’s also been a reading break, even so, I’ve read some very good books, I‘m quite happy with the quality of my reading which is more important I think. And I’ve also read manga, which I never thought I would do, but there was an anime that I loved, so I thought it would be fun to read the manga and I ended up reading quite a few volumes and I’m still reading them, so let’s go for it!…

  1. The Promised Neverland, Vol. 1 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  2. The Promised Neverland, Vol. 2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  3. The Promised Neverland, Vol. 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  4. The Promised Neverland, Vol. 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  5. The Promised Neverland, Vol. 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve read these five volumes of the Promised Neverland manga and love every second of it. The story is that my brothers introduced me a bit to the anime world, and I’ve been watching quite a few, from Naruto, Attack of the Titans, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia are a few that I’ve been watching, and honestly, I love them, and then one day I wanted to check out The Promised Neverland on Netflix and I loved the first season and then I found out they were canceling the series, so… of course, I went for the manga and I’m really enjoying it a lot.

I think this kind of stories are very much for me, they have smart characters, amazing post-apocalyptic settings, a very solid and well thought plot and those plot-twists have me fascinated, so I’m really enjoying the experience and will continue reading the next volumes soon. If you’re into manga or want to start I highly recommend this story, it’s really good.

I know this book is controversial, and you either love it or hate it, but I honestly feel that the story isn’t a romance at all, but is in fact a story about self-discovery, personal growth, loss, grief, and above all friendship and family. And I think if you can let go of the ending which can be a bit “wrong”, it’s a story full of feelings that’s really worth reading, it made me cry, I swear.
I have a review that I dedicated to it as soon as I finished it for you to cheque out…

My heart broke reading this book, but at the same time, I loved it.
I don’t think it’s a book about romance per se, or at least I don’t feel that’s the way to describe it, but I would go for it keeping in mind that it’s an emotional book focused on friendship. It also touches on the theme of fate and how life can surprise us at any moment and change our lives forever. There’s a lot of self-discovery in the book as well, it explores the true meaning of loving, and is also highly thought-provoking.

I understand that it won’t be for everyone and in fact, I understand the negative reviews, it’s a book that portrays the characters in very raw and human ways with everything and weaknesses and flaws, and it also has a twist that you may not entirely like. But beyond all this, it’s absolutely remarkable and admirable the way in which this author brings out the emotions of the characters making the reader feel present in each scene to give us heartbreaking moments, in the end, showing us a raw and cruel face of life, and then have a somewhat open ending that doesn’t give you the chance to compose yourself after al the crying.

I swear, I cried in all the last chapters, it’s heartbreaking, so please keep in mind that the content is delicate and hard than what the blurb portrays. But after all, and personally, it was worth reading, I’m pleasantly surprised and I feel that I will carry the feelings that this book made me feel for a while with me.

I was really looking forward to this book and although I really enjoyed the plot and the idea seems amazing, I don’t quite agree with the main character’s way of thinking and that can sometimes be frustrating while reading it, especially because I was yelling at her a bit while she was making certain decisions. I still want to read the sequel as I feel like there will be a lot of growth coming for Voya after everything that happened in the story so I’m hopeful that I’ll like the sequel even more!!! A little bit of my thoughts after finishing it below, as well.

Somehow I have mixed feelings now that I’ve finished it. But, without a doubt, it’s a book that kept me entertained all the time, it has a very powerful and intriguing concept to explore, a wonderful diversity, and also all this surrounded by magic, family, and a surprising but pleasant futuristic setting, which I think gives the touch and originality to the story.

Love the first part, then it gets a bit repetitive, but still super enjoyable and with very lovable characters that I loved to read about.

On the not-so-bright side, for me, Voya’s decisions are quite questionable during the story and I don’t know if I’m %100 on board with the ending.
Still, the personal decisions of a flawed character who is still in the process of growing and learning don’t discourage me or take away my desire to read the sequel, which I hope to grab as soon as it comes out this year.

A magical sci-fi style, family-centered read that I would recommend, without hesitation.

I didn’t write anything after finishing this book, I was probably too impressed to say anything because I really liked it! Obviously, I knew I would enjoy it because the theme of time travel and parallel dimensions and all that stuff is my jam. Plus the author’s style made it very easy to read and I was able to connect with the characters while reading. A really gripping plot where we accompany the main character as he finds himself with a life that doesn’t belong to him, but could have been his if he had made different decisions in the past. And to see how life can change by small or very significant decisions is fascinating! it really is one of those plots where anything can happen. Part of me wishes there was more to this story especially since the ending is so open and uncertain, but I still enjoyed this one so much!

I’ve put these here together because one of them was my least favorite book of the past few months while the other one, on the contrary, is the one I loved the most! So I thought it was fun to tell you a little about each one…

I wanted to read a light romance and I loved the author’s style, very light to read and fluid, but I didn’t love the main character as much, as I didn’t love the plot. I think the best part of this book is the secondary characters, plus it has some positive messages, but really the rest of it left a lot to be desired for me. I would read something else from the authors without a doubt, only this plot was not the right one and every time I think about it, I feel like lowering even more the rating I gave it, but even so, I think that the good aspects deserve it, so I’ll leave it like that. Here are some more of my thoughts after I finished reading it.

I really enjoyed the authors’ style, they’re one of those authors that are a pleasure to read because the writing style is superfluid, dynamic, and easy to read. On the other hand, the main character is a NO for me, she has quite questionable attitudes, she’s very self-focused, without counting, a bit conceited, and at times is quite disconnected from the reality around her, becoming cruel to the people who are there for her. This, unfortunately, has been something that has discouraged me a bit, but still luckily the book as such has funny moments that you really enjoy and the secondary characters are lovable, honestly, I liked all of them except the MC lol.
The plot itself was well executed although I’m not a big fan of the “cheating” happening.
So all in all it’s a good book, but maybe I was expecting a little more, still, I’m interested in reading more from the author in the future, with a different main character and a different plot maybe it would be an easy 5 stars.

This one probably already goes to the best books I’ve read this year, and I don’t think I’m rushing it, you guys, I really loved it! and I don’t know why I’m even surprised, the author is brilliant and I’ve read and loved every single one of her books. I feel like every time I pick up one of her books it’s an honor, I swear, one of the best writers I’ve ever come across with. I know I say this about each of her stories but the realism of her characters makes this story come alive and settle into your heart and never leave. The main character of this book is one of my favorite characters EVER, it doesn’t happen to me many times while reading, but I had a really deep connection with her because of her life and her experiences and especially because of the connection she has with her siblings, it was a very beautiful and emotional read for me. On the other hand, I think it’s brilliant how this book connects with The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, another book worth mentioning every chance I get. Obviously, I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a tough story but so real and well told, you go through every state as you read it from anger and sadness to excitement and laughter. I loved it!

I don’t think this is really a surprise but LOVE this book. Not only this author’s stories are so real that you feel like you’re living them along with the characters, but I also really enjoyed following this one, that’s entirely focused on brotherhood and the family we choose. It’s one of my weaknesses and this time it’s told in such a raw way: from heartbreaking to liberating.
It’s always a pleasure to get into this author’s stories and I hope to continue to do so. Such a Masterpiece
PS: Nina has won a place in my heart and is probably one of my favorite characters ever

So I’m starting this one tonight probably, I haven’t read a single word yet, but I’m super excited! I’ve been wanting to read this trilogy forever, but I don’t know why I always had an excuse not to, so I figured…. why not now?
I’m doing it guys, I hope I enjoy it so I can bring you positive feedback, I think it’ll be fun to give at least a chance to some old series from time to time!

Even though it has nothing to do specifically with what brings us here today, I wanted to update you also that I’ve been having some difficulties in editing my posts for many months now. I’ve communicated with the WordPress staff members, who have been super nice and have helped me a lot, but I still want to share it with you. You may have already noticed that my posts are displayed all yellow from the reader or from the app, I knew this was happening, but at that time there was nothing I could do because it was a bug, the bug is still happening as far as the “highlight” tool is concerned and they hope to fix it soon.
Other than that, I’ve decided to continue blogging as I’m very excited about it, and luckily I’ve found a way to keep some color styles on my blog, so I don’t have to make everything flat black and boring lol, especially since I like to use color and certain details.
So I wanted to tell you this so you know what’s going on since many of you have let me know in the past, but also so you understand why I’m changing the look of my blog, I’m still looking for my style within the features I can use, so I hope you like it and still enjoy the posts.
PS: if you want to enjoy the post as I edit it and visualize it in the correct way you can do it entering from the web page directly or from some search engine. Thank you SO SO much!

    • Hi, beautiful!!! Thank you SO much! HAPPY to be back ❤️🥺✨. Honestly even though the main character can be a bit difficult., I think it’s so worth reading, love the idea, love that it focuses on family and magic, somehow it reminded me a bit of Encanto, but a bit darker and futuristic 😅 Hope you love it, it’ll be fun to know your opinion. It’s almost 500 pages, but I promise you’ll fly through it. ☺️ Dark Matter was a super intense read, I loved it! 👏🏻

Hmm, I just finished a book where I didn’t agree with everything the main character did, but he was a teen and I could understand his mindset so I was okay with it; I’m wondering if that’s the same in this book, I guess I’ll find out! But everything you love about it sounds amazing, plus the cover is beautiful! 😄💞

  4. Oooooh! I’m happy you are back, Sofi! You moving to Germany, that has to be daunting and exciting at the same time. But you are not doing it alone and I’m sure you will manage to find lots of new friends and bookshops and places you love there. It’s a beautiful country. 🙂 And hey, I’m happy to help if you have question about German phrases or anything. 😉

I have noticed the yellow in past posts but there is non in this one, so I guess it’s fine?
I have not read Promised Neverland but I’m quite curious about it. Also, if you want a recommendation, try Kekkaishi. It’s my absolute favourite Manga of all time. 🙂
I’m happy that you’re back and am looking forward to reading your new posts!

YES, absolutely, it’s a lot of emotions but mostly it’s excitement, to learn, grow and enjoy this new experience. I appreciate it so much! Thank you 🥰, I’m studying German and at least I hope to be able to communicate in the basics before I leave *fingers crossed*. 😅🙏🏻

I’ve changed the way I edit so that this bug doesn’t appear anymore, it’s a mess but well, I prefer to change some things so it doesn’t look like that. 🥺
100% I will write down Kekkaishi to read as next manga! Thank you SO much for the recommendation. ✨✨ Promised Neverland is great, I highly recommend it ✨✨
      Have a beautiful day! ❤️

I used to live in Germany for a while and really liked it, although it obviously can be very different depending on which area you decide to move to. Just as a heads up, the Germans love their bureaucracy, so be prepared for a mountain of paperwork. ❤
Hope all goes well and you enjoy dipping your toes back into blogging!
