October Wrap Up | A Month Full of Spooky & Amazing Readings πŸŽƒ

πŸŽƒ Hi guys! I hope you’re having a beautiful day full of good readings.❀️ Today I bring you a new post… my October Wrap Up! where I’ll tell you ALL about my readings of the month. I’m super happy to have shared the month of October with you and besides, being here to share everything about my readings, you know that I LOVE horror, so I had a really fun month, watching a lot of horror movies and reading some pretty creepy stuff, and, in general, I’m quite happy with what I’ve been able to do during the month. πŸ˜Š In my personal life, it has been my mother’s birthday, and being able to spend it with her despite everything that’s happening in the world has been a blessing, always keeping in mind how lucky I’m to have my family close and to be able to visit them more often, that has really brought me very nice energy to my month, I’ve also resumed my morning walks πŸ‘πŸ», now that everything is a little calmer the activities are being regulated better in my province, so I’ve had a little more freedom, always using a facemask, guys, super important, let’s take care of each other! So it has been a beautiful month, I’m also planning and working a little on my WIP, but I’ll start writing as such in November, like many of us I’ll be participating in Nanowrimo and super excited about it, because it will be my first time so we’ll see, maybe I’ll be sharing a bit of that with you next month. πŸ₯Ί πŸ₯Ί πŸ₯Ί

Of course, I want to thank you for all the support and love you’ve given me and my blog this month, it has been wonderful and it’s always a great blessing to see all those comments and likes and visits, at the end of the day to think that so many people have been taking their time to interact with me really means a lot, so thank you, my friends, you’re wonderful & I’m here super excited for another month together! πŸ’ž

Now about my reading month, I think I would have liked to do better and maybe read one more book, but most of myself is like super happy with what I’ve achieved, during the previous month I’ve reached a much-needed harmony about how I manage my time and being kind to myself has been first, I’m very happy to have so many passions and reading, regardless of the number of books, it will always be one of them, so I’m truly happy for each book I read. πŸ₯°
I’ve participated in two readathons this month, one of them is
Hocus Pocus Readathon & the other is Gothtober Readathon, if you want to know more about them you can check my October TBR. I’ve had a lot of fun with both, I’ve combined several of my readings to make it easier for myself and I double up some challenges and promps, so I’ve done quite well in both. πŸ™ŒπŸ» I think the positive of any readathon is feeling motivated to read and feel that emotion, you know? so super accomplished! πŸ₯³
What I’m most excited about my readings this month is that everything I’ve read I’ve enjoyed, I didn’t have a single bad reading this month, which is INCREDIBLE πŸ˜, you know that I’m quite picky with the books I read, so it’s a pleasant surprise.
I had a couple of readings that surprised me a lot, giving me much more than I expected from them. I’ve had another couple of readings with very shocking, intense, and interesting stories & Others spooky but adorable with incredible characters.
 πŸ‘»

So, sorry to make my introduction always so long, don’t hate me πŸ˜‚, & without further ado, let’s get started, I’m excited to share my readings with you! πŸŽƒ

πŸŒΎ Spooky, Atmospheric & Twisted Books πŸŒ™

πŸŽƒ Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power | OMG, this book, guys, I think my most appropriate thoughts for it are all in my review, but here I can mention some of my favorite factors. I want to start by saying that Rory Powers is my type of writer, I love how her mind works and the twists she gives to her stories are very unique, I love how almost poetic she’s at times, how incredibly atmospheric her stories are, and the best part is the development of the characters, that are mostly super complex.
This particular book has a bit of all of that, but it also brings us a completely unique story, I’ve never read anything like it and I understand that it may not be for everyone, so be careful with that, it’s also quite graphic as well, but still it worked amazingly for me and I still have those bittersweet feelings about the ending, I want more of these characters, it would be incredible to follow the main character a little more. It’s an extremely fast book to read that gives you a plot full of secrets where twisted and incredible things are happening al the time. SO AMAZING, I highly recommend it.

5 Estrellas

πŸŽƒ Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall | This book is another one of my faves of the month, I think mainly because of the way it’s told. In this story we follow many characters that don’t have something really special, they’re characters of average teenagers, but OMG, the plot is a gem, it’s SO spooky and creepy, even at times you can feel that you’re there with the characters and you feel super bad for them because they must travel a super dangerous path to save themselves from a place full of creepy creatures that want to kill them, this book is simply perfect for Halloween.
The star of this book is the formats in which it’s divided, you’ll always find yourself reading, of course, because it’s a book lol, but it’s described through security cameras, interviews, audios, emails, and videos also taken by the cameras of the boys themselves. It’s extremely interesting to see the story told in this way and to see how towards the end it takes shape, it’s simply brilliant. You can tell, this idea is not easy to execute but the author has done an extraordinary job, it keeps you in the edge of your seat from start to finish & it’s also extremely atmospheric, which I always love! It reads a lot like a documentary which’s fascinating, as well as I liked the outcome, even though it has an open ending, it’s very well managed.

4.5 Estrellas

πŸŽƒ The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson | I want to start by saying that I think this is a super solid book, and I still think the work that the author has done with it is incredible, I’m very excited to read what she will have for us in the future. I love how atmospheric it is and how tense the vibe is while reading it, one of my favorite things about the book is the witches, I think they’re shockingly created and described, it really was a wonderful factor to read & on the other hand, I also appreciate the discussion of abuse of power and racism that touches, it’s a book with hard content to read, but extremely interesting.
On the other hand, it took me a long time to read it, I think that the paced didn’t work well for me, I know that when a book is slow, it doesn’t mean that it will be bad, this is one of those cases, but I felt that it drained me a bit every time I read and I ended up feeling quite exhausted. On the other hand, I didn’t feel genuinely attached to any of the characters, I think they lack an impact and maybe a little more work on their personalities, but that’s totally personal. In short, I think it’s a book worth reading, I just might have expected much more and that affected my enjoyment.

πŸŽƒ Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker | This was just too adorable, it was exactly what I was looking for. I love the characters and their personalities, the DIVERSITY this story gives us is just fantastic, WOW, I love that! I would have liked to have a little more development on the magic aspect, but it was beautiful nonetheless. The relationship between the characters is adorable, so open and honest, I loved it.
A super sweet read with a magical touch and lots of diversity, perfect to read during this time of year! I highly recommend

πŸŽƒ Vicious (Villains #1) by V.E. Schwab | Ok, I’ll do something here that I don’t do much, but I still don’t want to tell you all my thoughts about this book, because I’m working on my review that will be on the blog soon and there you’ll read EVERYTHING you need to know about it and how I felt about it. Here I’ll only mention that was a very unique book & very well-executed, I adore the author, and I’m happy to have finally read it, many of you have recommended it to me and I know that most of you love it, so I’m excited to share my thoughts soon. An intense book that’s for sure.

  6. It sounds like you had a great reading month Sofii! ❀️
I haven’t read any of these, but they all sound so fascinating, you’ve made me curious about Rules for Vanishing!
That’s awesome that things are starting to open up again and you have more freedom. We’re currently in our “Second Wave” so the government is torn between keeping things open and shutting down again. I hope we don’t go into complete lockdown again, only time will tell at this point.
    Have a wonderful November! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’ž

  9. Aaaah I can’t wait to see what you thought of Vicious. It’s been so long since I read it, but I did love the cat and mouse chase between Victor and Eli. I find it hilarious that I use to be a horror fan, but have since turned into the biggest wimp ever haha. I try and get out to do a daily walk, but the weather at the moment is keeping my locked indoors. Hopefully, when things settle I can get back out there again. Happy reading and I hope you have a fabulous November. πŸ˜€

    • Thank you SO much, honey!! ❀️ In my case I use them for my own fun, I like to see how many pages I’ve read and that kind of thing, it also works for me to have a track of the genres that I read and thus be able to give a chance to those which I haven’t read much. 😊✨
