🌙 Hi, guys! I hope you’re having a wonderful day full of good readings. Super excited cause this weekly series will be focused on helping me clean my Goodreads shelves and also prioritize some readings and organize myself in general. I LOVE this idea, I know that many of you already know it and do it as well, the creator is the incredible Destiny | Howling Libraries | 💫 whom I love as a human being and I respect a lot as a book blogger ❤️, so it’s really a pleasure to start with this new project especially because it’s created by someone who I admire a lot and that makes me very happy, I also really need help to organize my books, So here we go! 👏🏻

This weekly meme has its rules of course, as you see, but I also wanted to give it my own twist to make it more fun and also fit my needs or what I hope to do with my books and my readings. So I’ve decided that as well as Destiny, I’ll be opening voting every week so that you can participate in the whole process and help me decide which books to prioritize, for this: I’ll ask you to vote for one of the books in the “LOWS” section and not only I’ll be adding it to my priority list, but I’ll also be creating my own TBR Jar with each of your choices!. So, every week the book you choose from my selection will be added to my TBR Jar and then at the end of the month, I’ll choose one of them to read and finally give a real chance to it. I’ll not be removing all my “LOWS”, only some if necessary, maybe one per week or sometimes none, I’ll be super honest about them and I hope you can help me make a decision anything can happen in these posts! LOL 🥰

I hope you like this idea, I think it will be fun, I’ll be cleaning my Goodreads shelves a bit, which is great, but you can also participate in the process and so will have a super interactive experience, so we can all have a little fun ❤️. I hope you enjoy it, thanks for the support always, from the bottom of my heart & LET’S START!  🌙

  • Sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, ascending
  • Find 5-10 (or more, if you feel ambitious!) titles to purge from your TBR (the “lows”)
    • ALTERNATIVE OPTION: Find 5+ titles that are at the BOTTOM of your TBR—books you want to read someday, just not right now!
  • Post those 5 books in the list, with a brief explanation
  • Next, sort your Goodreads TBR shelf by date added, descending
  • List the last 5 (or more!) books you added to your TBR, with a synopsis or your brief summary of why you added it (the “highs”)

Book Reviews List (5)

Thank you SO much if you voted on the previous week post and thanks to you as well that have let me know your thoughts, it was really helpful to make my decisions ❤️

✔️ I KEEP ON MY TBR | You Know Me Well by Nina LaCour & David LevithanThis Is Our Story by Ashley Elston ( You Know Me Well has been in second place with your votes, so obviously I’ll keep it in my TBR, sounds adorable and is quite short too. For TIOS, I think it has such a good promise to let go, so I want to give it a chance or at least make a “try a chapter” with it. )

❌ LEAVES MY TBR | The Girl in 6E (Deanna Madden #1) by A.R. Torre & The Unseen World by Liz Moore ( Even when both sound interesting, I don’t feel that it’s something I want to read or have in my TBR for any longer, so I’ll let them go for now at least. )

⚱️ TBR JAR | Hunted by Meagan Spooner ( I love how unpredictable this challenge is! I’m really surprised that this is the winner but also excited now that I know that most of you have enjoyed it, it will be interesting to know that I think once I read it. )

Book Reviews List (4)

🌙 How to Make a Wish by Ashley Herring Blake | When the book just came out, I remember to hear many incredible things about it, and that’s why I added it to my TBR, besides I like stories that focus on mother and daughter relationship and also this story promises a girl’s self-discovery about her own sexuality and there’s a love story in between.
It’s a book that I’m still interested in reading, but I’ve had it for a long time in my TBR so it would help me a lot to know your thoughts. I also have other books of the author that sound super incredible, it shows that she writes hard-hitting stories that reach your heart, so I would like to give it a chance to this author.

🌙 Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett | I have several doubts about this one… I’ve kept it in my TBR because I’ve always wanted to read something by the author, I know that many people love her stories, so that makes me very curious, but right now that I read the blurb again I’m not sure if this will be the book for me. Contemporary is usually a hit or miss for me, and even more when it’s only focused on a romance, you know? This book follows a girl who has a crush for a film geek who knows online called “Alex” and is about her moving with her father where this person “Alex” also lives, and then there she gets a job where Porter works, which is something like her arch-enemy, and then she discovers that this Poter is actually “Alex.”
I’m not 100% satisfied with the idea, it seems simple and kind of cliche, not to mention that the blurb reveals too much for my taste. So maybe I give it a chance if you really think it’s worth it, but if not, I think it’s time for this one to go and maybe I could read something else from the author.

🌙 Assassin’s Apprentice (The Farseer Trilogy #1) by Robin Hobb | This book sounds great and I remember adding it for the hype that was around this series and for the fact that the power in which the book focuses sounds very fascinating, where the main character has a magical connection with animals, I love that. This series is basically about Fitz and he’s a royal bastard thrown into the world to live alone, but then he’s adopted by a royal family to be his assassin since the magic he manages is very valuable as dangerous.
I still continue to hear very good things about the trilogy, as I’ve also read reviews of people I trust in that have enjoyed it, but I have some doubts, I’m afraid that it’s a dense high-fantasy and something slow since it’s not something I want to read right now, you know? But I’m considering it to keep it in my TBR and that’s why I’m dying to know your opinion

🌙 Slated (Slated #1) by Teri Terry | I love stories where the main character loses her memories, although it was a quite used resource at the time, it never stops entertaining me. What I understand from this story is that the government has decided to eliminate all Kayla’s memories to give her a second chance after thinking that she was a terrorist. But now, flashes of the past begin to come back to her.
Sounds super cool, I love the covers, maybe that’s why it’s in my TBR as well lol, but I would love to know if you think it’s worth it because it doesn’t have many good reviews really, and the positives ones think it’s “average”, so I don’t know yet.

🌙 You (You #1) by Caroline Kepnes | I added it in the first place because I thought it sounded extra incredible and interesting because it’s told from the stalker’s point of view, that seems very original to me, but now I’ve already seen the 2 seasons of the Netflix series “You” and I really don’t know if it’s worth reading the book now, you know? I LOVED the TV series, they have done such a great job, so maybe reading the books would give me a new perspective … I don’t know, what do you think?

Book Reviews List (5)

🌙 Night Film by Marisha Pessl | I’ve been recommended with this book so many times that it’s crazy, I know it’s very loved, so I’m very curious to read it. This is about an investigative journalist Scott McGrath, who’s investigating the death of a young woman, Ashley Cordova, whose death has been listed as suicide but Scott believes it could be something much darker linked to her father, the famous horror director Stanislaus Cordova, who hasn’t been seen in public for almost 30 years.
The promise sounds great and I’ve heard that it’s a pretty creepy mystery plot so that’s really exciting for me, I hope to enjoy it as much as everyone once I read it.

🌙 Sisters of Sword and Song by Rebecca Ross | Fantasy books about sisterhood ties are my thing, I’m SO excited about this book! The plot is about Evadne who’s super excited to reunite with her sister Halcyon, who has been serving in the queen’s army. But Halcyon arrives earlier and Eva knows that something is going very wrong … her sister is escaping, being hunted by her commander and charged with murder.
Eva volunteers to serve part of Halcyon’s sentence, but will soon discover that there are worse things than death.
Sounds so good and is also recommended for fans of An Ember in the Ashes, a book that you know, I LOVE with all my heart, especially for the great connection between siblings that it has, so I hope to have a lot of that in this story as well.

🌙 Heartwood Box by Ann Aguirre | I read Like Never and Always by the author, and I loved the main idea I think it was very original, I didn’t like the execution, though, but still, I want to give the author a second chance with this book, because it sounds very intriguing and although it doesn’t have the best reviews I can’t help feeling very curious about it, so maybe I read the first chapters because I think it could work for me.
It’s about a girl, Araceli, who’s going to live with her great-aunt and very strange things happen in that town … her great-aunt leaves food for her husband who has disappeared years ago, there are many posters of people missing, a forest with unexplained lights and a laboratory nobody talks about. When Araceli begins to receive mysterious letters she’ll deepen into a truly diabolical conspiracy.
Sounds great so I hope this new chance that I’m giving to the author works for me, or I think I’ll stop with this one.

🌙 Love My Way by Kate Sterritt | In fact, I added this to my TBR because although it’s not my usual reading, I think it sounds very interesting and the reviews are wonderful, I saw it first in the Destiny’s blog and seeing her talk about it made me really want to read it. The blurb is quite vague but I think this summarizes quite well what’s about “Emerson Hart is the love of my life. Unfortunately, I’m not the only love of hers. And therein lies the problem.”

🌙 Darling Rose Gold by Stephanie Wrobel | This book sounds deliciously creepy, and I need it in my life right now! Don’t be fooled by the beautiful pinky cover, this book promises to be a mystery thriller all about the darkest side of a mother-daughter relationship. During the first 18 years of her life, Rose Gold Watts thought she was very sick, even her neighbors organized collects to help her but it turns out that her mother Patty Watts was a very good liar. After 5 years in prison, Patty is released without a clue where to go or anyone to go to, so she communicates with Rose Gold to get help and surprisingly for everyone she says yes. Patty insists that she wants to reconcile and restart the bond with her daughter, but unfortunately for Patty, Rose Gold is no longer her weak little darling and she’s waited such a long time for her mother to come home.
I think this will be a super interesting and dark story, so I must prepare for my emotions, but at the same time I’m very excited and I can’t wait to read it.

🌿 Now is YOUR time to decide! Choose one of the books in my “The LOWS” section and I’ll add it to my TBR JAR to give it a chance at some point.
I’ll be making the decision of which books I’ll be letting go of my TBR completely, cause I really need to clean this out, after knowing your opinion and in the next week I’ll let you know 🌿

  1. Not to sound too aggressive but you have to keep the assassin’s apprentice on your TBR. I totally understand why it has a low rating because it is dense and slow but it’s a older traditional fantasy and the way the series grows just shows so much skill from the author.
If you’re a fantasy fan and you want to pick up something that really thinks things through in detail and puts plot points all the way through the series and builds then this is a great option. The magic isn’t really central to this so that’s something to consider before going in. It’s more about the characters and the story

    • I appreciate this comment so much, I really needed to know a little more about the book before making a decision and I must say that I’m super curious now! I love when fantasy stories focus on the characters so that won’t be a problem. Thank you SO much for your comment again, it’s very helpful & I hope you have a great day! 🥰

    • From skimming the comments it looks like I’m massively outvoted 😂but here goes: I love fantasy so I read Assassin’s Apprentice not too long ago, and hated it! Usually I’m good with books that take a while to develop, but this book takes dense and slow to another level. I read it on Kindle and specifically remember nothing happening until the 51% mark – it was all setup before that. Also, despite being called “Assassin’s Apprentice” there’s very little assassination actually happening…the teacher character in the book instead mostly gives Fitz (main character) random tasks like “steal this hairbrush” and “retrieve this packet from the bookshelf in the king’s room”. It was honestly such a…boring book, haha. And I rarely say that! Anyway, just my two cents cause I unexpectedly disliked this book so much 😂

      • Mel! First, I’m so sorry you’ve had a bad time reading the book, it’s the worst when it ends up being a boring experience & second, thank you SO much for your honesty about it, it’s always super valuable to have diversity of opinions, it will help me a lot to make my decision 💕

  2. I love Alex, Approximately! It has a lovely romance, but it doesn’t overshadow other aspect of the book such as amazing father/daughter relationship and sex positivity 😀 I was initially in doubt too as I don’t read too much contemporary, but it’s so good! ❤

I also just added Darling Rose Gold to my TBR like… 2 days ago? 😀 It really intrigues me!

    • Oh, I’m SO glad you mention the romance doesn’t overshadow the other aspects, and the fact that has sex positivity, I love it! I’m so glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate your comment, it will help me make a decision. 🥰
Darling Rose Gold sounds so good, right? I can’t wait to read it 😍

  3. I absolutely adored Alex Approximately. I must say that I think it’s very focused on romance, but I love that. It has a great summer vibe and a lot of overall cuteness and awkwardness. I recommend it! 🙂

  4. Oh don’t let the Robin Hobb book go. I read 6 books by her so far and they are all incredible. Assassin’s Apprentice made me feel so many things. It made me angry, it brought me to tears, I was thrilled the whole way through and the characters are all so unique and interesting and I truly bonded with Fitz. One of the best fantasy series I ever read.

    • OMG, your comment melts my heart!! I love that you liked the book so much and even more that you enjoy the author’s works. I probably keep it because I’ve already read several comments that express so much love for that book that I’m very curious. 😍
