🌟 Hi guys!! I hope you’re having a great day and that you’re enjoying your current reading. 💕 Today I bring you a couple of somewhat unexpected short reviews. None of these books were in my TBR for this month, but recently and after reading The Devouring Gray, I really needed a shorter, lighter and more addictive reading, so I went for two short books that have been in my TBR for some time and I was dying to read. Love with all my heart both readings and they’ve put me in a great mood to read, so I think I made the right decision, I hope you enjoy the reviews and let me know everything in the comments. LOVE YOU 🌟
Title: Shadow Me
By: Tahereh Mafi
Series: Shatter Me #4.5
Pages: 112
Published: March 5th, 2019
By: HarperCollins
Genre: YA | Fantasy | Dystopia | Short Novella
Fan favorite character Kenji Kishimoto narrates this gripping companion novella to Tahereh Mafi’s New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, set during the explosive events in Restore Me!
Juliette is still reeling from Warner’s betrayal, and Kenji is trying to balance his friendship with her with his responsibilities as a leader of the resistance against the Reestablishment. Things get even more interesting when an unexpected person from Omega Point’s past surfaces.
The ending of Restore Me left readers gasping, and this novella full of Kenji’s signature sass and big heart is the perfect story to tide fans over until Defy Me, the shocking fifth book in the Shatter Me series, hits shelves in April 2019.
|| Goodreads ||
“It’s not the pain that’s unendurable. It’s the hopelessness. It’s the hopelessness that makes you reckless.”
This novel wasn’t in my plans for the month, but I felt so nostalgic about the Shatter Me characters that I had to read a little about them. In addition, I love Kenji so much and this little novel, his interaction with the other characters and his POV of the whole situation, was SO perfect, everything I needed & I really enjoyed it.
Kenji needs his own series ❤

I don’t have much more to say than what I’ve already said about it honestly, in this book we follow Kenji’s POV in a small section before the ending of Restore Me, ending that just left me shocked, I really need to continue with the other books, but soon it will happen, I’m sure.
I love seeing the interactions between the characters again, especially between Kenji and Juliette because I really adore their friendship, I think it’s pure and very loving, besides seeing everything through Kenji’s eyes makes you realize how important people are for him and how much he cares. And I also enjoyed the interactions of Kenji and Warner, I swear that when I read Warner again I almost died, I love him so much lol. I also appreciate those little romantic scenes, because I’m all for them, and Kenji also makes me laugh a lot, I love that.
I don’t think that this is a book that you should read before Defy Me, although it contributes a little more about the world in general, it’s mostly what we already know. Even so, I recommend it if, like everyone, you love Kenji and want a little more of his charming and incredible personality.
There’s a scene where he thinks that nobody will ever love him, I thought “OMG, Kenji, we’re ALL loving you here” lol, he’s so adorable, he deserves all the best in this world
5/5
Title: Evidence of the Affair
By: Taylor Jenkins Reid
Series: NO
Pages: 115
Published: September 20th, 2018
By: Amazon Original Stories
Genre: Adult | Short Novella | Romance
The repercussions of an illicit affair unfold in this short story by bestselling author Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Dear stranger…
A desperate young woman in Southern California sits down to write a letter to a man she’s never met—a choice that will forever change both their lives.
My heart goes out to you, David. Even though I do not know you…
The correspondence between Carrie Allsop and David Mayer reveals, piece by piece, the painful details of a devastating affair between their spouses. With each commiserating scratch of the pen, they confess their fears and bare their souls. They share the bewilderment over how things went so wrong and come to wonder where to go from here.
Told entirely through the letters of two comforting strangers and those of two illicit lovers, Evidence of the Affair explores the complex nature of the heart. And ultimately, for one woman, how liberating it can be when it’s broken.

“It is funny the crazy things our brains make up to save us from the truth.”
OMFG … This woman officially became one of my favorite writers.
I love this little book so much, it broke my heart like a million times in just 100 pages, which shows the author’s ability to create extremely realistic stories and characters, which I’ll never get tired of saying. I just loved it, the story itself has a simplicity that makes it honest, raw and real. Also that ending! I swear, I saw something coming but shocked me anyway.
The book is basically about a woman named Carrie who discovers that her husband is cheating on her, so she decides to send a letter to the husband of her husband’s lover, named David, telling him the situation. After a while, they continue sending letters to each other and become an important part of each other’s life being of amazing support.
So, it’s a very short story but it certainly knows how to convey the feelings of the characters, so you feel immediately hooked. Of course, given the assumptions of cheating, you immediately want to side with the characters and rooting for them, want them to be better. It was a bit frustrating because given the time in which the story takes place it’s much more difficult the separations issue and the construction of the couples of the time is more strict and of course, old-fashion. So the characters find it very difficult to make decisions that perhaps today would be taken more freely.
The fact that this whole story is told through the letters doesn’t make it less valuable, in fact, on the contrary, it’s possible to feel each of the feelings behind, in each character, from their fears and insecurities to their full personalities. Again the author shows us that she’s capable of creating characters that feel 100% real, and I love that from her books.
The whole final part of the book is brilliant, I liked it a lot because although it’s not what I personally would have wanted, it managed to surprise myself and in the end I felt that in fact, it was the best way that things could have ended, it’s that kind of plot when you know that someone will get hurt no matter what and see how everything concludes, it makes me feel very happy for the characters, but there’s also something bittersweet in all that . In short, I enjoyed it a lot, not only the ending but the whole book, it keeps you wanting to know what will happen next, it’s really wonderful and it reads very fast, so I have nothing more to say, just that I highly recommend it
SUCH A GOOD BOOK, Read it!!, it won’t take you any of your time and it’s certainly worth it
