💫 Hi guys! I hope you’re having a beautiful day! 💞 Today I bring you my TBR for the month of August, where I’ll tell you everything I’ll be reading during the month. This month I’ll be participating for the first time in the N.E.W.Ts, this is the second part of what’s an incredible Magical Read-A-Thon created by Book Roast, who has really done an impressive job creating the promps, the careers and even creates super original content for the read-a-thon that makes everything even more special. I highly recommend you check her video announcement out, I’ll leave it above, so you can understand better what it’s all about. In the video description you can find all the information you need, from the careers to a Q&A section where you can clear all your doubts, so don’t hesitate and check it out! 😍
The creator always mentions that you can take this read-a-thon and do it as you want, we’re all welcome to participate if you want to do the O.W.Ls which is the first part, during August you can also do it, or if you prefer not to follow any career and just take the promps you like the most, or, in another case, and as I’ll be doing, you can do the N.E.W.Ts directly and take them as practice if you’ve never experienced this read-a-thon before. 😊
💛 I was so excited and it was so special for me to be one of the bloggers to give recommendations for this read-a-thon, so if you haven’t found that perfect book yet or have doubts about your TBR, I invite you to check my Hufflepuff Study Guide Recommendations post, maybe I can help you to find what you’re looking for! 💛
So, for my career I’ve chosen Hogwarts Professor, it seemed to me that it was the one that fits most with the books I wanted to read during the month, I could put some ARCs on the list, so YAY! and I also think I can handle the number of books I’ll need to read for it, I’ll be reading 7 books, which is great. 😅 Also, who wouldn’t want to be a Hogwarts Professor, right? So I don’t want to waste any more time and I want to immediately start and tell you all about what subject I’ll be specializing in to teach and what books I’ll read! Let’s get started, I’m so excited! 💫
💫 Potions 💫
I chose Potions as my main theme to teach so HERE we go!
A || Pollyjuice potion: read your friend’s favorite book!
Autoboyography by Christina Lauren
Three years ago, Tanner Scott’s family relocated from California to Utah, a move that nudged the bisexual teen temporarily back into the closet. Now, with one semester of high school to go, and no obstacles between him and out-of-state college freedom, Tanner plans to coast through his remaining classes and clear out of Utah.
But when his best friend Autumn dares him to take Provo High’s prestigious Seminar—where honor roll students diligently toil to draft a book in a semester—Tanner can’t resist going against his better judgment and having a go, if only to prove to Autumn how silly the whole thing is. Writing a book in four months sounds simple. Four months is an eternity.
It turns out, Tanner is only partly right: four months is a long time. After all, it takes only one second for him to notice Sebastian Brother, the Mormon prodigy who sold his own Seminar novel the year before and who now mentors the class. And it takes less than a month for Tanner to fall completely in love with him.

I’ve been thinking that I want to read this book for a while now and I know Jenna LOVES it ❤️, and she’s always talking about it and saying the best things, so I choose it for that, and I hope to enjoy it as much as she did

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the court of King Peleus and his perfect son Achilles. By all rights their paths should never cross, but Achilles takes the shamed prince as his friend, and as they grow into young men skilled in the arts of war and medicine their bond blossoms into something deeper – despite the displeasure of Achilles’ mother Thetis, a cruel sea goddess. But then word comes that Helen of Sparta has been kidnapped. Torn between love and fear for his friend, Patroclus journeys with Achilles to Troy, little knowing that the years that follow will test everything they hold dear.
Profoundly moving and breathtakingly original, this rendering of the epic Trojan War is a dazzling feat of the imagination, a devastating love story, and an almighty battle between gods and kings, peace and glory, immortal fame and the human heart.

I think this is explained by itself, I’m a Hufflepuff so it’s the perfect excuse to read this beauty. I was going to take Circe, but I want to read this one before reading that one and since they both fit in with the challenge I decided to do that. I’ve heard great things, I know that a lot of you love it, I love mythology so I think this could be one that I get to enjoy a lot
O || Book that starts with a Prologue
The Shadowverse by John-Clement Gallo
Regarded as “captivating” and “one-of-a-kind,” The Shadowverse is a Science-Fiction Superhero thriller with hints of the Young Adult genre. It is a story of destiny—that no matter who you are, where you are, or what your past is like, you can always achieve greatness.
Johnny Sparks longs for a greater purpose. After an encounter with a mysterious stranger, he and his friends are imbued with incredible powers—at last giving his life meaning.
But this dream soon disintegrates once one of the friends is taken by an alien warlord named Titan. In a rescue effort, the remaining group is sent across the galaxy in search of the only possible aid—an ancient, immortal warrior missing for centuries.
To succeed, the team must join forces to reclaim their friend and stop a sinister scheme devised against humanity by Titan and his empire. The conflict for the soul of the universe is set in motion, but even if the group prevails, they risk losing what it means to be human.

This is a copy that the author has sent me for reviews for which I’m very grateful, I know I should have read it months ago but I haven’t had the time so this month needs to happen, and this promp is perfect for it!

A || Book that’s black under the dust jacket
The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed
Three misfits come together to avenge the rape of a fellow classmate and in the process trigger a change in the misogynist culture at their high school transforming the lives of everyone around them in this searing and timely story.
Who are the Nowhere Girls?
They’re everygirl. But they start with just three:
Grace Salter is the new girl in town, whose family was run out of their former community after her southern Baptist preacher mom turned into a radical liberal after falling off a horse and bumping her head.
Rosina Suarez is the queer punk girl in a conservative Mexican immigrant family, who dreams of a life playing music instead of babysitting her gaggle of cousins and waitressing at her uncle’s restaurant.
Erin Delillo is obsessed with two things: marine biology and Star Trek: The Next Generation, but they aren’t enough to distract her from her suspicion that she may in fact be an android.
When Grace learns that Lucy Moynihan, the former occupant of her new home, was run out of town for having accused the popular guys at school of gang rape, she’s incensed that Lucy never had justice. For their own personal reasons, Rosina and Erin feel equally deeply about Lucy’s tragedy, so they form an anonymous group of girls at Prescott High to resist the sexist culture at their school, which includes boycotting sex of any kind with the male students.
Told in alternating perspectives, this groundbreaking novel is an indictment of rape culture and explores with bold honesty the deepest questions about teen girls and sexuality.

I had to go to my physical TBR shelf, and I found this beautiful book waiting for me, which is perfect because I’M DYING TO READ IT. Lately, I’ve been seeing it a lot for some reason, so I’ll take it as a sign, I have great expectations *fingers crossed*

The Sentinel’s Alliance (Silent Sea Chronicles #3) by Suzanne Rogerson
Can new alliances save the islands of the Silent Sea from the murderers stalking their shores?
As the island of Kalaya and its people recover from civil war, a new threat surfaces. Invaders from the island of Elkena hunt the seas, butchering those who possess magic. Their scar-faced captain seeks the Fire Mage who it has been foretold will kill him and Tei and her people are in his warpath.
Tei and a band of Kalayans travel to Stone Haven, the home of their new allies, planning to restore magic to the dead island. But the Stone Haven Council have abhorred magic since their people were massacred by Elkenan invaders twenty years before. Commander Farrell must persuade his people to accept magic again, but his plans expose them to their biggest fear and he risks leading Tei and her people into danger, and jeopardising the safety of both their islands.
Under Farrell’s guidance treaties are forged, but is the newly formed Silent Sea Alliance enough to defeat the invaders and stop their bloodthirsty quest to destroy magic forever?
The Sentinel’s Alliance is the final book in the Silent Sea Chronicles trilogy.

This promp is one of my favorites because it’s definitely unexpected! Luckily for me, while building my TBR I kept thinking I wanted to read this book, since I loved the previous ones and also the author has been kind enough to send me an ARC, so I couldn’t stop thinking about it and when I read this promp I knew it was meant to happen. I’m super excited to read the final book of a trilogy with a lot of potentials, I also adore the cover!

Readers are calling it “creative” and “engaging!”

This is probably the easiest one because I could have chosen almost any book on my TBR, you know I love fantasy, so I can practically drown in this genre lol. But even so, I immediately thought about this book since it’s another of the ARCs that I want to read close to its release date, and I thought since I’m adding ARCs and copies that I need to read, why not do a good job and add one more, right? I’m killing this game! lol

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now.
Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.
Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.
Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.
The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

I hope you liked it! I would love to know if you’ll be participating in the N.E.W.Ts this month and if so, what career will you follow? 💛
