💫 Hi guys, I hope you’re having a beautiful day! Today I bring you another part of our series, the book meme “Down the TBR Hole”which I’m doing hoping that it will help me to reduce the number of books that are in my current TBR

My plan is to upload this meme every week!. I’ll show you 10 books of which I’ll choose which one I’ll keep or get rid of. I want to make this weekly meme as interactive as possible, so I’ll be consulting a lot with you, to decide what to do. There will be those books which I’ll be interested in (Keep), those which I’ll not be interested in anymore (GO) and those which I’ll not be sure about, and with those, I’ll need your help. So please, let me know all your thoughts in the comments and I’ll be able to take my decision and let you know in the next post. 💫

I’m very happy because I’ve seen that you have participated a lot in the previous post, leaving me your comments, so I’m super excited to continue with this weekly meme.
If you’re doing the same meme right now, let me know so I can check your post out and leave my thoughts there 💖

☕️ #1 – The Next Together (The Next Together #1) by Lauren James

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA romance/fantasy, time travel book. It’s about Katherine and Matthew, they’re destined to born again and again each century and each time their presence changes the world in some way and then they fall in love to be tragically separated. One of their lives they sacrifice themselves to save the world, but then they come back again so they wonder what they have to do to be able to live their life normally and be able to love each other without obstacles.
I love the promise and even though I haven’t heard so many positive things, I’m interested in reading it, especially because I love time travels and this story sounds tragically beautiful. I also like the fact that it’s a duology since I don’t have many of those in my life. 👍🏻

☕️ #2 – Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA contemporary/romance book. The blurb is quite vague but from what I could understand is a love story that takes place in a bookstore “Howling Books”, and follows the characters Henry Jones and Rachel Sweetie, who were very close friends until Rachel moved to the sea, but now she’s back. She’s grieving for her brother Cal as she searches for her future in books and in words that people left behind.
I’ve heard that it’s a very emotional book and I can see it’s about loss and grieve, so of course, it will be. I’ve read incredible reviews about it as well, so I’m very interested although I’ll keep it for when I feel like reading something deep because I know that I’ll probably love it, but my feelings 😭

 💫 KEEP 💫

☕️ #3 – See How They Lie by Sue Wallman

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Contemporary/Thriller about a girl named Mae who’s in “Hummingbird Creek” which is a sanatorium for rich people, so she feels very lucky to be there, besides her father is the best psychiatrist of the place. But one day Mae breaks a rule and in a place that is all about rules that can be a very dangerous thing.
I think the blurb, in general, is pretty vague too, but this can be a good thing especially because it’s a thriller, so I like having little information, I feel I could be surprised. The main reason why I want to read the book is because of the author, I’ve seen that many of her books are very well-loved so I would like to start with some. Also, the book is described as “a psycho-chiller to wake up your darkest phobias” and I’m living for that. 😨

 💫 KEEP 💫

☕️ #4 – Warcross (Warcross #1) by Marie Lu

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Sci-fi/Fantasy book. Follows Emika Chen she’s a young hacker who works as a bounty hunter into the popular game called Warcross, she’s in charge of tracking those who bet illegally inside the game, and she does this as a way to earn money to live. One day she receives a call from Hideo Tanaka, the creator of the game, who makes her an unbeatable offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job.
I’m not the biggest fan of this kind of plot, I don’t know why, but I’ve had experiences with plots about games or virtual gamy things, that have been very heavy for me to read, but I’ll try anyway because Marie Lu is a must-read for me, she can turn everything into gold, so I’m excited because even if it’s not my kind of thing, I think I could enjoy it because of the author’s amazing writing style 🤞🏻

 💫 KEEP 💫

☕️ #5 – All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Fantasy/Magical-Realism book. The promise is very confusing so I’ll not try to explain it and embarrass myself, lol. But the promise says something like this “From bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater, to gripping tale of darkness, miracles, and family, Saints, Miracles, Family, Romance, Death, Redemption.” and that’s enough for me. I hadn’t realized until now that this book follows Latinx characters and I’m all about it.
I know there are many mixed reviews opinions about this book, I’ve heard those who love it, but I also know that there are those who couldn’t with the weird and whimsical of the story, so I’ll keep my mind open about it and I’ll go into it hoping for anything.
I’m excited to read another work by the author so of course, I’ll give it an opportunity, for me this book sounds like something I’ll love or I’ll end up hating, so it will be interesting to know my own thoughts 👏🏻

 💫 KEEP 💫

☕️ #6 – He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly

|| Goodreads ||

This is an Adult Mystery/Thriller book. It’s about Laura, she witnesses a brutal attack, so she and her boyfriend Kit, call the police, and at that time isn’t only the victim’s life the only one that changes completely. Fifteen years later Laura and Kit live with fear, with the certainty that something is hidden in the dark.
You know I love the genre, but even though this one doesn’t call my attention anymore, I’ve heard very positive opinions so if it’s something that interests you, you should try. For some reason, I feel that I’ll never read this book if I keep it, I lost interest, so it would be best to let it go.
Even so, I’m interested in knowing your thoughts if you’ve read it! 👋🏻

 💫 GO 💫

☕️ #7 – Everless (Everless #1) by Sara Holland

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Fantasy about a world where time is the currency, extracted from blood, bound to iron, and consumed to add time to one’s own lifespan. Families like the Gerlings, with a lot of power, tax the poor to the hilt, extending their own lives by centuries.
The book follows as the main character to Jules Ember, she worked with her father as servants in Everless, the Gerlings’ palatial estate, until an accident happens and they must flee from there. When Jules discovers that her father is dying she knows that she must return to Everless to earn more time and save his life.
Soon she’s caught in a tangle of violent secrets and finds her heart torn between two people she thought she’d never see again. Her decisions have the power to change her fate and the fate of time itself.
It sounds quite incredible, I really like the promise of time as a currency, it reminds me of Justin Timberlake’s movie, which I love. On the other hand, I’ve had this book for a long time and I’ve managed to read a couple of chapters, but after that I can’t ever keep myself reading, didn’t click with me, the plot feels great but the character building and the writing style, I feel they aren’t for me, so I’ll take this as a signal and let it go. At least I know I gave it a try but honestly, I couldn’t read it, I’ll pass the book to my best friend because I know that she wants to read it and hopefully she’ll enjoy it more. 👋🏻

 💫 GO 💫

☕️ #8 – Jane, Unlimited by Kristin Cashore

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Fantasy/Mystery/Sci-Fi book, follows Jane who has had a very ordinary life, has been raised by her aunt Magnolia, recently deceased, and now Jane feels she has no direction. One day she received an invitation from Kiran Thrash to a gala at the Thrashes’ extravagant island mansion called Tu Reviens. Jane remembered that her aunt had told her that she has to go if she ever gets the invitation. What she doesn’t know that going to Tu Reviens will change the direction of her life, the house gives her five choices and each one of them will determine Jane’s destiny, but each choice comes with a price.
This book sounds SO good, I can’t let it go, I read the worst reviews and that made me sad but it’s one of those books that I need to read myself to be sure that I’m not missing something incredible, you know? because the promise sounds perfect for me. I read “The Graceling” by the author and although I adore the construction of the world, I hated the main character, so I don’t know, this could be a hit or miss for me, but I’m 100% on board and I’m excited to read it  😍

 💫 KEEP 💫

☕️ #9 – Steelheart (The Reckoners #1) by Brandon Sanderson

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Fantasy/Sci-fi book. The concept is about characters with superpowers and this boy David who seeks revenge for the death of his father. I’m not entirely sure, but I think it follows a league or a group of super-heroes (but I suspect there’s something like anti-heroes happening here as well). You know that I love stories that have characters with powers, are my jam, so this really caught my attention, also recently I read a book by the author for the first time, and now I’m even more excited to continue reading his works, I’m charmed for his writing style and, without a doubt, I need more. Plus, it’s a revenge story and YES, I love that.💕

 💫 KEEP 💫

☕️ #10 – There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Contemporary/Horror book. Follows Makani, she thought she had left behind her dark past in Hawaii, settling with her grandmother in Nebraska. But his past is not far behind.
Then, one by one, the students of Osborne Hugh begin to die in a series of gruesome murders, and Makani will be forced to face their dark secrets.
I have to be 100% honest, as I always try to be, but without offending anyone, I don’t feel that Stephanie Perkins is the author for me, I read Anna and the French Kiss by her and it was an ok read but don’t love it as much as everyone else, I feel that her writing style isn’t for me and the way she tells the stories feels a little “teenageish” for my taste, maybe because I’m not a teenage anymore or I don’t know but this type of reading doesn’t convince me, I haven’t heard very good things about this book either, so I’ll say goodbye to it.
I should make a post about authors that aren’t for me because I have several very popular ones, if you’re interested you should let me know and we could spill the tea together 😅

    • Yes! This time I keep several ones, but hopefully I’ll be reading them *fingers crossed*
      Oh, SAME! 😅 Even so, I don’t know why I haven’t read it because I love Marie Lu, I guess it makes me nervous that it’s sci-fi, but we’ll see how I feel once I read it, I hope you enjoy it!! 💕

  1. I’m doing this meme on my blog too. I post it on Mondays. Just like The Bookwork Drinketh, I’ve had Warcross on my shelf forever and haven’t gotten around to reading it🤦‍♀️ Yeah, I haven’t heard good things about There’s Someone at Your Door either😐

      • It’s helping to clean out old things that I have even forgotten that I added to my TBR but I add like crazy sometimes because there’s just so many books that I want to read! 😂 Therefore, it isn’t helping diminish it at all. Pffft🤦‍♀️

  2. Have you read the Fallen series by Lauren Kate? It sounds a lot like The Next Together (but with angels and seraphim).
    I think if you’ve enjoyed other Maggie Stiefvater books then you’re more inclined to enjoy All the Crooked Saints as you kind if know what you’re getting yourself into!! She definitely twists the magic in a very unique way.
    Enjoy reading the ones you’re keeping!! x
