ππ»Β Hi guys!, I hope you’re having a wonderful day and that you’re surrounded by incredible readings. Today I bring you a post that I’ve seen a lot in the bookish world, especially in Booktube and I figure that I never had one of these in the blog, so I knew that should change. I love doing recommendation posts and I feel that this is a great way to make it more funΒ π
In the post “If You Liked This, Then You’ll Like This!” I’ll show you a book and based on it, I’ll recommend another one that you might like. If you didn’t read the book I’m talking about, but you’ve read the one I recommend instead, then don’t worry, the recommendation works both ways, so no matter which book you liked then you’ll probably like the other one I mention πΒ
If you like these types of post, let me know and I’ll continue making a couple more!
So, without further ado, let’s start!Β ππ»
Β π«Β Each link is directed to my review (Spoiler-Free) of the book, in case you want to know more about my thoughts and what each book specifically is about Β π«Β
Β π«Β If You Liked … City of Ghosts (Cassidy Blake #1) by Victoria Schwab
π«Β Then You’ll Like … Every Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children #1) by Seanan McGuire
I have enjoyed both books very much, I think they’re very entertaining and fun to read, but at the same time, they have a spooky touch, which I love. They both play a lot with paranormal/fantasy aspect and explore journeys of different ways but both fascinating.
When I say that I recommend Every Heart a Doorway, I mean actually, the entire series of Wayward Children, not just this specific one. Both books explore adventures that you can’t miss, with whimsical characters in beautiful atmospheric worlds.
Both follow children, or, at least, very young characters, so it’s another similarity that you can find.
π«Β If You Liked …Β Sadie by Courtney Summers
π«Β Then You’ll Like … Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker
I think both books have many similarities but at the same time, they are unique and absolutely original stories separately.
Both books touch sisterhood very closely, making it almost a central point.
The mystery, suspense, and tension are present in each chapter, which will leave you breathless, especially with the plot twists, which are INCREDIBLE and very well done. In the case of Sadie, I think that these twists are a little more subtle because of how the story is told but in any case, they’re great.
Both books have brilliant handling of the plot, which makes you feel hooked from the first chapter.
In both books, we have our main character, which hides many secrets and both are being investigated by other adult characters, in Sadie: West McCray, the radio personality, while in Emma in the Nigh is Dr. Abby Winter, a forensic psychiatrist, who will not stop until find out what has really happened with these girls.
Both INCREDIBLE and highly recommended mystery books, so don’t hesitate to give them a chance!
π«Β If You Liked … The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw
π«Β Then You’ll Like … The Price Guide to the Occult by Leslye Walton
If we’re talking about atmospheric readings, these two are exactly what you need. LOVE these books, so if you’ve read any of them, you’ll probably like the other one
These books are incredibly magical, both focus on witches and curses, and also both books take place in a small mysterious and spooky towns, which is a perfect setting for both stories.
Both main characters also have complicated relationships with their mothers for different reasons, and both are very interesting to read about.
Both are YA fantasy/paranormal books, The Price Guide has a bit of Magical Realism as well, and is very well executed.
π«Β If You Liked … Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh Bardugo
π«Β Then You’ll Like … An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes #1) by Sabaa Tahir
Both books have, undoubtedly, the best cast of characters in a fantasy book that I’ve ever read.
They’re both so well created, they all have thousands of shades in their personalities, they’re unique and they stand out 100% in each of their abilities.
I really dare to compare them in terms of characters because both have an incredible growth and also they have a great strength that I admire and that’s why I love a lot of these characters.
Both books have an AMAZING world-building, has so many unique places to go is fascinating
And to be both high fantasy books, I’m happy to say that both have great diversity, especially in terms of races and religions.
In addition, both share very complexly and well-developed plots, so many things happen in both books is crazy
Emma in the Night is going on my TBR!
