š«Ā Hi guys, I hope you’re having the best of the days. To be honest I didn’t remember that I had to do this post!. OMG, I urgently need to start writing things down, I’m becoming a grandmother lol. But HERE WE ARE!, and I’m super excited to tell you about my most anticipated books of next year.
As we all know 2019 will be a great year in new releases, many incredible books will come out and it will be crazy, and although I want to check several of those, there are some of them that I know I have to read and get my hands on, those are the ones that I’ll show you today, and I’ll tell you a bit about why I’m so excited for each one of them so, I decided that I’m going to do my Top 10, because I need some kind of control guys, lol. Without more further ado, let’s start!š«
The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air #2) by Holly Black
||January 8th 2019 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers||
The enchanting and bloodthirsty sequel to theĀ New York TimesĀ bestselling novelĀ The Cruel Prince.
You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.
The first lesson is to make yourself strong.
After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her younger brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.
When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Faerie world.
I enjoyed The Cruel Prince so much, and that ending was really INCREDIBLE and so SHOCKING at the same time, so I can’t wait to know what will happen with the characters and the plot from now on, it will be a wild ride, I can feel it
Slayer (Slayer #1) by Kiersten White
||January 8th 2019 by Simon Pulse||
Into every generation a Slayer is bornā¦
Nina and her twin sister, Artemis, are far from normal. Itās hard to be when you grow up at the Watcherās Academy, which is a bit different from your average boarding school. Here teens are trained as guides for Slayersāgirls gifted with supernatural strength to fight the forces of darkness. But while Ninaās mother is a prominent member of the Watcherās Council, Nina has never embraced the violent Watcher lifestyle. Instead she follows her instincts to heal, carving out a place for herself as the school medic.
Until the day Ninaās life changes forever.
Thanks to Buffy, the famous (and infamous) Slayer that Ninaās father died protecting, Nina is not only the newest Chosen Oneāsheās the last Slayer, ever. Period.
As Nina hones her skills with her Watcher-in-training, Leo, thereās plenty to keep her occupied: a monster fighting ring, a demon who eats happiness, a shadowy figure that keeps popping up in Ninaās dreamsā¦
But itās not until bodies start turning up that Ninaās new powers will truly be testedābecause someone she loves might be next.
One thing is clear: Being Chosen is easy. Making choices is hard.
OMG guys, I can’t believe that’s so little time for this book to come out, it’s one of my most anticipated. I LOVE Buffy, the vampire slayer, and now we have this incredible book and I can’t with my excitement, it’s also written by Kiersten White and I loved “The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein”, so I’m even more excited to read it
King of Scars (Nikolai Duology #1) by Leigh Bardugo
||January 29th 2019 by Imprint||
Nikolai Lantsov has always had a gift for the impossible. No one knows what he endured in his countryās bloody civil warāand he intends to keep it that way. Now, as enemies gather at his weakened borders, the young king must find a way to refill Ravkaās coffers, forge new alliances, and stop a rising threat to the once-great Grisha Army.
Yet with every day a dark magic within him grows stronger, threatening to destroy all he has built. With the help of a young monk and a legendary Grisha Squaller, Nikolai will journey to the places in Ravka where the deepest magic survives to vanquish the terrible legacy inside him. He will risk everything to save his country and himself. But some secrets arenāt meant to stay buriedāand some wounds arenāt meant to heal.
Oh this book doesn’t need explanation, reading about Nikolai will be a huge pleasure for me, I love this character and I think many of you already know that the trilogy of Shadow and Bone is one of my favorites ever, so super excited for getting inside in the Grisha universe again
Rayne & Delilah’s Midnite Matinee by Jeff Zentner
||February 26th 2019 by Crown Books for Young Readers||
A contemporary novel about two best friends who must make tough decisions about their futures–and the TV show they host–in their senior year of high school.
Every Friday night, best friends Delia and Josie become Rayne Ravenscroft and Delilah Darkwood, hosts of the campy creature feature showĀ Midnite MatineeĀ on the local cable station TV Six.
But with the end of senior year quickly approaching, the girls face tough decisions about their futures. Josie has been dreading graduation, as she tries to decide whether to leave for a big university and chase her dream career in mainstream TV. And Lawson, one of the show’s guest performers, a talented MMA fighter with weaknesses for pancakes, fantasy novels, and Josie, is making her tough decision even harder.
Scary movies are the last connection Delia has to her dad, who abandoned the family years ago. IfĀ Midnite MatineeĀ becomes a hit, maybe he’ll see it and want to be a part of her life again. And maybe Josie will stay with the show instead of leaving her behind, too.
As the tug-of-war between growing up and growing apart tests the bonds of their friendship, Josie and Delia start to realize that an uncertain future can be both monstrous…and momentous.
I think not many write like Jeff Zentner, I’m a big fan of his work, I could definitely recommend any of his books and that’s why I’m very excited about this new book, I feel that if you like the contemporary genre and want to feel a lot of things then you have to read something from the author, peronally I can’t wait for this one to come out and have it in my hands
When the Sky Fell on Splendor by Emily Henry
||March 12th 2019 by Razorbill||
The Serpent KingĀ meetsĀ Stranger ThingsĀ in Emily Henry’s gripping novel about a group of friends in a small town who find themselves dealing with unexpected powers after a cosmic event.
Almost everyone in the small town of Splendor, Ohio, was affected when the local steel mill exploded. If you werenāt a casualty of the accident yourself, chances are a loved one was. Thatās the case for seventeen-year-old Franny, who, five years after the explosion, still has to stand by and do nothing as her brother lies in a coma.Ā
In the wake of the tragedy, Franny found solace in a group of friends whose experiences mirrored her own. The group calls themselves The Ordinary, and they spend their free time investigating local ghost stories and legends, filming their exploits for their small following of YouTube fans. Itās silly, itās fun, and it keeps them from dwelling on the sadness that surrounds them.
Until one evening, when the strange and dangerous thing they film isnāt fictionāitās a bright light, something massive hurdling toward them from the sky. And when it crashes and the teens go to investigateā¦everything changes.
I love that this book is described as The Serpent King meets Stranger Things, and that’s ALL I needed to know. It sounds amazing, as well, so I can’t wait
These Witches Don’t Burn (These Witches Don’t Burn #1) by Isabel Sterling
||May 28th 2019 by Razorbill||
“Infused with page-turning suspense, bittersweet romance, shocking twists, and tragic turns, Sterling has written a standout debut.” –Dana Mele, author ofĀ People Like Us
Hannah’s a witch, but not the kind you’re thinking of. She’s the real deal, an Elemental with the power to control fire, earth, water, and air. But even though she lives in Salem, Massachusetts, her magic is a secret she has to keep to herself. If she’s ever caught using it in front of a Reg (read: non-witch), she could lose it. For good. So, Hannah spends most of her time avoiding her ex-girlfriend (and fellow Elemental Witch) Veronica, hanging out with her best friend, and working at the Fly By Night Cauldron selling candles and crystals to tourists, goths, and local Wiccans.
But dealing with her ex is the least of Hannah’s concerns when a terrifying blood ritual interrupts the end-of-school-year bonfire. Evidence of dark magic begins to appear all over Salem, and Hannah’s sure it’s the work of a deadly Blood Witch. The issue is, her coven is less than convinced, forcing Hannah to team up with the last person she wants to see: Veronica.
While the pair attempt to smoke out the Blood Witch at a house party, Hannah meets Morgan, a cute new ballerina in town. But trying to date amid a supernatural crisis is easier said than done, and Hannah will have to test the limits of her power if she’s going to save her coven and get the girl, especially when the attacks on Salem’s witches become deadlier by the day.
Isabel Sterling’s delightful, suspenseful debut is equal parts sweet romance and thrilling mystery. With everything she loves on the line, Hannah must confront this murderous villain before her coven–and any chance she has with the new girl–is destroyed.
I honestly feel that I’ll love this book, the synopsis sounds so good! Besides, I’m all for a good book with diversity and witches, I can’t wait. It will be EPIC
Girls with Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young
||March 19th 2019 by Simon Pulse||
The Girls of Innovations Academy are beautiful and well-behavedāit says so on their report cards. Under the watchful gaze of their Guardians, the all-girl boarding school offers an array of studies and activities, from āGrowing a Beautiful and Prosperous Gardenā to āArt Appreciationā and āInterior Design.ā The girls learn to be the best society has to offer. Until Mena starts to realize that their carefully controlled existence may not be quite as it appears.
As Mena and her friends begin to uncover the dark secrets of whatās actually happening thereāand who they really areāthe girls of Innovations will find out what they are truly capable of. Because some of the prettiest flowers have the sharpest thorns.
What attracts me most about this book is its cover, I can’t lie, I LOVE IT. But after seeing it I’ve heard so many incredible things about it, so I really want to read it. I also feel that it sounds very good and has some mystery and intrigue in it, I’m also very interested in reading something from the author, I’ve heard the best things about her writing style
Shadow Me (Shatter Me #4.5) by Tahereh Mafi
||March 5th 2019 by HarperCollins||
Fan favorite character Kenji Kishimoto narrates this gripping companion novella to Tahereh MafiāsĀ New York TimesĀ bestselling Shatter Me series, set during the explosive events inĀ Restore Me!
Juliette is still reeling from Warner’s betrayal, and Kenji is trying to balance his friendship with her withĀ his responsibilities as a leader of the resistance against the Reestablishment.Ā Things get even more interesting whenĀ an unexpected person from Omega Pointās past surfaces.
The ending ofĀ Restore MeĀ left readers gasping, and this novella full of Kenjiās signature sass and big heart is the perfect story to tide fans over untilĀ Defy Me, the shocking fifth book in the Shatter Me series, hits shelves in April 2019.
Defy Me (Shatter Me #5) by Tahereh Mafi
||April 2nd 2019 by Harper Teen||
The gripping fifth installment in the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling Shatter Me series. Will Julietteās broken heart make her vulnerable to the strengthening darkness within her?
Julietteās short tenure as the supreme commander of North America has been an utter disaster. When the children of the other world leaders show up on her doorstep, she wants nothing more than to turn to Warner for support and guidance. But he shatters her heart when he reveals that heās been keeping secrets about her family and her identity from herāsecrets that change everything.
Juliette is devastated, and the darkness thatās always dwelled within her threatens to consume her. An explosive encounter with unexpected visitors might be enough to push her over the edge.
I’m going to count these two as if they were ONE since they’re from the same series.
Shadow Me is a short novel for which I’m very excited, since it will be everything from Kenji’s point of view. And Defy Me is the much awaited fourth book in the Shatter Me series and I honestly CAN’T WAIT!. I love this series and the plot twist has opened many doubts in me so I’m dying to know what will happen
The Beautiful (The Beautiful #1) by RenƩe Ahdied
||October 8th 2019 by PenguinTeen||
In 1872, New Orleans is a city ruled by the dead. But to seventeen-year-old Celine Rousseau, New Orleans provides her a refuge after she’s forced to flee her life as a dressmaker in Paris. Taken in by the sisters of the Ursuline convent along with six other girls, Celine quickly becomes enamored with the vibrant city from the music to the food to the soirĆ©es and–especially–to the danger. She soon becomes embroiled in the city’s glitzy underworld, known as La Cour des Lions, after catching the eye of the group’s leader, the enigmatic SĆØbastien Saint Germain. When the body of one of the girls from the convent is found in the lair of La Cour des Lions, Celine battles her attraction to him and suspicions about SĆØbastien’s guilt along with the shame of her own horrible secret.
When more bodies are discovered, each crime more gruesome than the last, Celine and New Orleans become gripped by the terror of a serial killer on the loose–one Celine is sure has set her in his sights . . . and who may even be the young man who has stolen her heart. As the murders continue to go unsolved, Celine takes matters into her own hands and soon uncovers something even more shocking: an age-old feud from the darkest creatures of the underworld reveals a truth about Celine she always suspected simmered just beneath the surface.
At once a sultry romance and a thrilling murder mystery, master storyteller RenĆ©e Ahdieh embarks on her most potent fantasy series yet: The Beautiful. And these vampires donāt sparkle. They slay.
“these vampires donāt sparkle. They slay.” That final line conquered me, I love how this book sounds, it’s also about VAMPIRES, and I haven’t read anything like it for a long time. I can’t wait, if it’s well done, it could be one of my new favorites
The Devouring Gray (The Devouring Gray #1) by Christine Lynn Herman
Ā ||April 2nd 2019 by Titan Books||
Branches and stones, daggers and bones,
They locked the Beast away.After the death of her sister, seventeen-year-old Violet Saunders finds herself dragged to Four Paths, New York. Violet may be a newcomer, but she soon learns her mother isn’t: They belong to one of the revered founding families of the town, where stone bells hang above every doorway and danger lurks in the depths of the woods.
Justin Hawthorne’s bloodline has protected Four Paths for generations from the Grayāa lifeless dimension that imprisons a brutal monster. After Justin fails to inherit his family’s powers, his mother is determined to keep this humiliation a secret. But Justin can’t let go of the future he was promised and the town he swore to protect.
Ever since Harper Carlisle lost her hand to an accident that left her stranded in the Gray for days, she has vowed revenge on the person who abandoned her: Justin Hawthorne. There are ripples of dissent in Four Paths, and Harper seizes an opportunity to take down the Hawthornes and change her destiny-to what extent, even she doesn’t yet know.
The Gray is growing stronger every day, and its victims are piling up. When Violet accidentally unleashes the monster, all three must band together with the other Founders to unearth the dark truths behind their families’ abilitiesābefore the Gray devours them all.
Last but not least, this beautiful book sounds like something I know I’ll love. It has that mystery aura that I usually enjoy and the plot sounds so captivating. I’m very excited for this book, and I repeated it in all the previous ones but I really dying to read it lol
