💫 Hi guys I hope you’re having an amazing day!. This month I’m very hesitant with my readings, I don’t really know what I want to read, so I decided to make this tag so that it helps me a little to choose what I’ll read next!. I’ve wanted to do this tag for a while now (The original creator is BookParadise on YouTube), I find it super fun, so I’m really excited.
What I’ll be doing is a bit different from the original idea, and is that after reading the first chapter of each book, I’ll not only be deciding which I’ll continue reading, but I’ll also be removing at least 1 or 2 of my TBR, which honestly is out of control LOL. For this opportunity I’ll choose the 6 books that have been on my TBR the longest, obviously I want you to leave all your opinions about them in the comments, I’ll be reading because it’s always very helpful with my decisions, especially if I’m not sure about some of them.
It would be fun to do this often to clean my TBR, right ?, but we’ll see, for now I hope you enjoy this tag I’m a little nervous about this, but also super excited so, Let’s start!💫
RULES:
- Pick 5 (or more) books from your tbr
- Read the first chapter of all of them (including the prologue if there is one)
- Tell your readers if you’re sold on the book and what you thought of the first chapter. Are you going to finish the book this month?
🌟 My Picks🌟
💫 Firelight (Firelight #1) by Sophie Jordan : Well, I really enjoyed the first chapter, it was quite quick to read, and I can’t refuse to a good dragon story. I like how each “Draki” has a special ability, that’s very interesting. This definitely stays in my TBR, and I may even continue reading it. I really liked that first chapter, although it doesn’t say much, it started with a lot of action and that usually catches me.💛
💫 Ruby Red (Precious Stone #1) by Kerstin Gier : I was a little scared about this one because I’ve already read the Silber and Dream On by the author and although I enjoyed the first book the second was a disaster. After finishing the prologue and the first chapter of Ruby Red, I’m not sure I want to read this book, the only thing that calls me about it, is the theme of time travel, but I’m not sure about the characters or the writing style . I know I can’t judge much reading only 1 chapter but that’s what this is about, right?
I think this book feels like Middle Grade even though it’s YA, and I don’t have any problem with that, it’s just an observation 🤔
💫 Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee : It reminded me a lot of The 5th Wave, it has a very similar vibe, and I think that I might like it since I adored that book in its moment. The theme of the apocalyptic worlds is something I always enjoy although it may be difficult not to fall into a cliche, you know? I feel I could give this a chance, especially for the sibling relation, but I’m not sure if I want to read about angels, I need you to tell me a bit what you think about it 🤔
💫 A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses #1) by Sarah J. Maas : WOW, I really enjoyed that first chapter, is not too long though, so I ‘ll not draw conclusions. Even so, I really liked the cruel atmosphere where the plot develops and I love fairies. For now I’m interested in reading it so I’ll keep this one. I also confess that I’ve heard so many good things that I’m really curious. I don’t know if it will be the one that will continue reading right now, but it stays in my TBR, that’s for sure 💛
💫 An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes #1) by Sabaa Tahir : OMG this book, that first chapter is so intense!. I’m already getting involved in the story, I think it’s a lot of political intrigue in this one. A really good first chapter, that gives a lot of information, which is great. Absolutely, staying with this one and it’s possible that I continue reading it couse I’m intrigued 💛
💫 Red Queen (Red Queen #1) by Victoria Aveyard : Well, this was certainly a pleasant surprise. I didn’t expect that I would like it, I feel that I’ve already read many stories like this one so I deduced that it would be more of the same, but right now, I feel that I would like to continue it, the division of clases for the blood color it’s interesting and you know that I adore stories that have a bit of supernatural powers, this book promises a lot ,so I’ll keep it on my TBR 💛
🌟 Staying on my TBR🌟
I see myself reading any of these books in the future, I enjoyed all these first chapters so super excited for them. Tell me if you have read some of these books and what you think about it!
The one who I’ll continue reading in this opportunity will be … An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir!.
I’m very excited and intrigued by this book so I can’t wait to continue with it. It seems to me that it will be something brutal but good at the same time, it’s also based on Ancient Rome, or so I think and that’s really interesting. I’m also in the mood for something that involves political and rebellious issues, so I feel I’ll enjoy this one
🌟 Leaving My TBR🌟
I don’t have much to say, I just feel that I’ll never read this book, my other experience with the author wasn’t very good, so I’ll not fool myself by keeping it on my TBR. Although the cover is SO beautiful!. I want to remind you as I always say, that these are only my opinions and I hope not to offend anyone, seriously, it is not my intention
💫 Help me with…💫
I’m really going to need your help with this decision, 70% of me says that maybe it’s a good idea to get it out of my TBR, but I still have my doubts, and I want you to help me with it.
My idea is to check all your comments and so I’ll tell you about my decision in my next post 💕
I actually reviewed Angelfall a while back – so maybe that one might help you out a bit? 🙂
I enjoyed it and got myself the two sequels; just saying. Haha.

Definitely keep Angelfall. Even though I read them awhile ago, that entirely trilogy is still one of the best things in YA to me. I think it will surprise you.
Glad to see you’re keeping ACOTAR, too. Even though I hated the other books in the series due to extreme retconning and character assassination (long story), I still stand that ACOTAR is one of my favorites out of YA, and luckily for me, it does well as a standalone lol.

Thank you so much for your opinion, it will help me a lot to decide and I’m very happy that you have enjoyed it!
Well, I’ve heard so many things about ACOTAR, and the trilogy in general, that my curiosity is really huge. If I like it, I know I’ll end up suffering lol, but we’ll see, I’ll keep your words in mind!. I have to read it soon!😄

This is such a fun tag and a great idea for thinning those daunting TBR piles! Just my opinion of course, but I was NOT a fan of Angelfall. I felt that it started out with an intriguing premise, but fell into every cliche imaginable throughout the story. It read very young to me, needed more editing, and the plot was largely unbelievable in parts. Red Queen had a lot of the same issues for me. Just what I thought! I was a huge fan of ACOTAR and that series gets better and better as you go on, so if you are already into it, then I am sure you’ll love it! I really liked Ember, but I feel like the sequel is a large step down from the first book. I hope this helps! 😃

I’m glad you like it! It’s so fun to do as well
Thank you so much for letting me know your thoughts about Angelfall, in fact you’re not the first to mention it to me, so I’ll keep it in mind when making my decision 🤗
Red Queen, ACOTAR and An Ember in the Ashes, are all so popular! I really don’t know why I haven’t read them yet, so I love that you give me a little thought about each of them, I’m interested in reading them, in fact I’ve already started with An Ember in the Ashes, and so far it’s going very wel,l so I hope it continues that way.
I hope you’re having an incredible reading month sweetheart 💕

I can vouch for the amazingness of An Ember in the Ashes! I put it off for so long because I wasn’t sure if I would like it but I ended up loving it and now the series is one of my favorites. You won’t regret it!

I HIGHLY recommend to keep reading A Court of Thorns and Roses. This series is one of the best I’ve ever got to experience. It just keeps getting better. So I don’t think you will be disappointed!
I really enjoyed Red Queen. But the second book in the series, not so much. I still plan to finish the series though.

I dnf’d Angelfall. It falls very quickly into cliché, the characters were bland and the romance set up was obvious and dull.

I’m sorry that you didn’t like it! Even though you’re not the first to mention it, I’ll keep it in mind. Thanks for your opinion 😊

I personally loved Angelfall, and I think I remember reviewing it a while back! To me, Ruby Red is one of my favorite books but maybe it has to do with how those were one of the first series I read when I was younger.. hope you’ll enjoy all the books you picked!

Ohh I really loved Angelfall, but I read it a while back, so I can’t say for sure if I’d still give it five stars haha. I was disappointed by the ending of the trilogy, though … I hope you love it, if you get to it! 🙂

This is a fun twist to the tag. Reading the first chapters of books to decide to keep or toss is actually a pretty sound idea.

This challenge looks like so much fun 🙂 It sounds like a great way to make sure your tbr stays filled with books you actually want to read! I’ll definitely consider doing it when my shelves inevitably get out of control…again!

I never would have expected Angelfall to be such a divisive one! Looks like people either loved it or hated it.I don’t see a review for it; did you ever read it?

I don’t read it, honey. In fact, I think I eliminated it from my TBR, over time I’ve lost interest and I think It’s not worth having it there any longer if I know I’ll not read it, although I know that many people love it. I think that if I had read it a few years ago maybe I ‘d have loved it too, but now it doesn’t seem like my type of reading anymore 😊
