Kacey is the new girl in Broken Falls. When she moved in with her father, she stepped into a brand-new life. A life with a stepbrother, a stepmother, and strangest of all, an adoring younger half sister.
Kacey’s new life is eerily charming compared with the wild highs and lows of the old one she lived with her volatile mother. And everyone is so nice in Broken Falls—she’s even been welcomed into a tight new circle of friends. Bailey and Jade invite her to do everything with them.
Which is why it’s so odd when they start acting distant. And when they don’t invite her to the biggest party of the year, it doesn’t exactly feel like an accident.
But Kacey will never be able to ask, because Bailey never makes it home from that party. Suddenly, Broken Falls doesn’t seem so welcoming after all—especially once everyone starts looking to the new girl for answers.
Kacey is about to learn some very important lessons: Sometimes appearances can be deceiving. Sometimes when you’re the new girl, you shouldn’t trust anyone.
OMG Guys, THIS. WAS. AMAZING.
I LOVED IT, exceeded my expectations and totally deserves the 5 stars. A super addictive suspense-mystery YA book
You can find this one and more fo my review on my blog A Book. A Thought.
I wasn’t ready for all the feelings when I started reading it, and although it has been recommended to me a lot, even so, it was a surprising that I liked it that much so I can say that is one of the most pleasant surprises that I’ve had this year
The plot follows Kacey, she has lived a terrible childhood along with her addicted mother, but now she moved to her father’s house with her stepmother and her half brothers, making her new in town, and she’s really trying to be a normal girl and have a better life.
She meets Jade and Bailey and they become best friends, but one night Bailey disappears after a party and all the tracks point to Kacey
This book is full of mystery and excellent characters, I enjoyed it from minute one, and then I was just hooking more and more in all the mystery that surrounds this town and the Bailey’s disappearance, this book is built in a super smart way and also has been super fast and fluid read.
I think that Kacey in a great main character, I think her personality so curious and decided makes the story much more interesting, her journey and the investigation for the disappearance of one of her best friends is so enthralling and dark. She’s determined to find out who has been the guilty but throughout this journey I was more and more confused and suddenly I found myself distrusting everyone and I love when that happens, because the plot has managed to make me want to find out who did it and I spend a great time trying to find out and following the clues. It kept me on the edge of the seat until the end
I’ve heard that this book is compared to Pretty Liar Littles and as a fan of the series, I’m not sure, I think in certain aspects may be true, especially in the suspense, “bad” girls and the police aspects is very similar, but I wouldn’t compare it since I think the book is much darker than that, even so, if you’re a fan of the series I would still recommend it to you, it’s excellent. Especially if it’s one of your first books in the genre of mystery, or you just want to start with the genre, then this is perfect for you
It was very refreshing to note that there were almost no romantic references in the book, I dare say there is no romance in it. Touch a lot of other relationships like friendship and family, and I found that super interesting and something strange to see in YA, even so there are references to couples and that kind of thing but nothing really romantic. I think that the theme of “love” is touched in a more personal way in other situations
In the middle of the book I thought I knew who was responsible for the whole thing but I was so wrong, and that’s great. I loved the ending I think it was super original and I was like OMFG lol, I didn’t see that coming at all.
I could keep talking to you about the book like forever, but I really don’t want to risk spoiling anything, the plot is sensational and it’s as good or more than it sounds. I can’t recommend it more, if you want an addictive and creepy story this is for you, in this book there are no good and bad people, I think there are many disturbed minds, lies and betrayals, and if that sounds good to you YOU HAVE TO READ IT.
I’ve been so curious about this book! I love a good suspense-mystery but it’s hard to find good ones. This one sounds awesome so I’ll definitely give this one a look! Great review!

Wow, this review is absolutely gushing with praise! I’m glad you enjoyed the book. I’m not much of a suspense/thriller/mystery reader, so it’s unlikely that I’ll actually pick this one up, but I won’t say never. If I find myself in the right mood, then at least I have this glowing recommendation to point me in the right direction.

[…] ☕️ Little Monsters by Kara Thomas : This book is INCREDIBLE. Honestly it has everything I love in a good mystery book, it has everything, from captivating characters, to surprising and unexpected twists. It’s also so atmospherically beautiful. I recommend it a lot for cold seasons, it’s an excellent winter or Halloween read. I don’t really want to say much about it, I tell a little more in my complete review, but that’s all you need to know, it’s better to go into these types of books without knowing much about it. You can’t trust anyone in this book, and I loved that. ||MY REVIEW|| […]
