Hi babes!, I hope you’re having a great day, I’ve an exciting TBR to show you this month, well I always get excited when I build my list of what I read in the month, but you feel me.
Before I started I wanted to tell you something, as I told you in my Wrap Up, I was reading Ice Like Fire the second book in the Snow Like Ashes trilogy and after trying to continue with it several times I decided that it would be better to leave it for another time, for some reason I didn’t get hooked with the story and I was very bored so I believe will be Better to continue with it later, anyway I want to finish this trilogy because I really love the first book so I’ll try again but not in this month.I hope not to enter to a reading slump, so I’ll try to vary in the genres and if I feel I can’t do it maybe do some re-reading.
So, without further ado I’ll show you the books I plan to read during the month of July
NetGalley ARCs
Plank’s Law by Lesley Choyce
Trevor has known since he was ten years old that he has Huntington’s disease, but at sixteen he is informed that he has one year to live. One day while he’s trying to figure stuff out, an old man named Plank finds him standing at a cliff by the ocean. It’s the beginning of an odd but intriguing relationship. Both Trevor and Plank decide to live by Plank’s Law, which is -just live.- This means Trevor has to act on the things on his bucket list, like hanging out with real penguins, star in a science fiction movie and actually talk to Sara–the girl at the hospital who smiles at him.
With the aid of Plank and Sara, Trevor revises his bucket list to include more important things and takes charge of his illness and his life.
I’ve find this book on NetGalley and I think it sounds so original and incredible, I’m so excited about it. It’s a rather short book but I’m looking for a reading that impacts me and touch my heart in some way, but we’ll see
No Good Deed by Kara Connolly
Fans of Dorothy Must Die will love this reimagining of the legend of Robin Hood. Girl power rules supreme when a modern girl finds herself in the middle of a medieval mess with only her smart mouth and her Olympic-archer aim to get her home.
Ellie Hudson is the front-runner on the road to gold for the U.S. Olympic archery team. All she has to do is qualify at the trials in jolly old England. When Ellie makes some kind of crazy wrong turn in the caverns under Nottingham Castle—yes, that Nottingham—she ends up in medieval England.
Ellie doesn’t care how she got to the Middle Ages; she just wants to go home before she gets the plague. But people are suffering in Nottingham, and Ellie has the skills to make it better. What’s an ace archer to do while she’s stuck in Sherwood Forest but make like Robin Hood?
Pulled into a past life as an outlaw, Ellie feels her present fading away next to daring do-gooding and a devilishly handsome knight. Only, Ellie is on the brink of rewriting history, and when she picks up her bow and arrow, her next shot could save her past—or doom civilization’s future.
I already talked about this book in my post of Approval of NetGalley and I’m excited to read it this month, sounds great, it’s like a retelling of Robin Hood but with a girl as main character and has time travel so I’m In, I hope don’t disappoint me
Jar TBR!
Furthermore (Furthermore) by Tahereh Mafi
Alice Alexis Queensmeadow 12 rates three things most important: Mother, who wouldn’t miss her; magic and color, which seem to elude her; and Father, who always loved her. Father disappeared from Ferenwood with only a ruler, almost three years ago. But she will have to travel through the mythical, dangerous land of Furthermore, where down can be up, paper is alive, and left can be both right and very, very wrong. Her only companion is Oliver whose own magic is based in lies and deceit. Alice must first find herself—and hold fast to the magic of love in the face of loss.
Truthwitch (The Witchlands #1) by Susan Dennard
In a continent on the edge of war, two witches hold its fate in their hands.
Young witches Safiya and Iseult have a habit of finding trouble. After clashing with a powerful Guildmaster and his ruthless Bloodwitch bodyguard, the friends are forced to flee their home.
Safi must avoid capture at all costs as she’s a rare Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lies. Many would kill for her magic, so Safi must keep it hidden – lest she be used in the struggle between empires. And Iseult’s true powers are hidden even from herself.
In a chance encounter at Court, Safi meets Prince Merik and makes him a reluctant ally. However, his help may not slow down the Bloodwitch now hot on the girls’ heels. All Safi and Iseult want is their freedom, but danger lies ahead. With war coming, treaties breaking and a magical contagion sweeping the land, the friends will have to fight emperors and mercenaries alike. For some will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.
I speak of both books when I say that I’ve heard nothing but great things about it, besides I’m so lucky that they have touched me because I’m dying to read them, two fantastic worlds in which I can’t wait to get into it . SO EXITED!
Last but not Less
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.
With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon’s junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met.
Well guys, I’ll read this book, you all have been recommended to me this one so much and I’ve heard so many incredible things about it so I can’t be more happy to finally go for it, I’m also very interested in reading LGBT + characters in books so that’s, as well, one of the reasons why I’ve chosen it
One of these days Truthwitch will make it on my list! I bought it when it was released but keep passing it by for some reason! I can’t wait to see what you think of it!
